I remember when the promo for this episode came out. I was absolutely terrified about what they were gonna do with the episode. I honestly thought they were gonna have this whole thing of Sam deciding he wants to go see what Mary's up to and understand, against Dean's wishes, end up in danger and then have Dean show up and save the day. I was honestly so scared they were gonna do that. Because they really push the whole "Sam should just always do what Dean says" thing, and I really didn't want them to do that. I was pleasantly surprised when I watched the episode and they didn't go that route and actually showed what a badass Sam Winchester is and had *him* save the day...

Essentially, Ketch went to Dean because he knew how to make the MoL appeal to Dean. Sam would be drawn in by their tech, gear, tactics and level of organization. Honestly, as excellent of a blue collar Hunter as Sam is, he'd *thrive* in a MoL-style environment, though perhaps with most of their sociopathic edges sanded off around the more brutal sides of their organization. Dean, however, IS a blue-collar Hunter, through and through. He's excellent at every facet of Hunting, but what he *really* enjoys is the hands-on approach, the thrill of the actual hunt. Ketch knows that, and, confident that Mary could get Sam to look at their home base, he goes to Dean with a bottle of fine liquor and then lures him on a bog-standard vamp hunt, so common and simple it's like a milk run. He even ditches the MoL tech/gear and goes in the old-fashioned way.

It cracks me up how Ms. Three PhDs totally failed as head of security and surveillance, not to mention basic common sense by running directly at the Alpha vamp with what looked like a letter opener...

you have to remember that these dudes murdered SOLDIERS. innocent people doing there job. monsters who didn’t even kill anyone or choose to be what they are. they do a good job of making you forget that but these people are bad. they don’t care who gets in the way of them killing

like the bros who constatly murder ''monsters'' who most of the time didnt choose to be what they are. most are just trying to eat. think how much dean loves burgers. hunters just kill because they want to. the bros think they are the only ones who have a family. the bros are ''rules for thee but not for me.'' its an interesting show but there are no good guys.
