Kawałek czasu śledzę Twój kanał i zawsze z przyjemnością dostrzegam tę samą kolejność - najpierw pomyśl, potem zrób. Brawo!

having built a jig similar to this 10 years ago when I started back up with woodworking I found that if the fingers and gaps are the same size the joint will be too tight and most of the glue is pushed out. Try adding a couple of sheets of paper between each of the pieces to make the gaps a shade bigger. Keep safe during these troubled times.

If you added paper to the jig, wouldn’t that also effect the size of the fingers giving you bigger fingers and not fixing the problem?

Nice video and Jig. I'm not a fan of running box joints.... (all sides cut at once), but this jig works great for normal paired sides. If you do 2 sides flip them end for end and cut on the same side of the jig, then rotate the jig and cut both end of the other 2 sides you get a look more like what you see with other styles of box joint jigs.

I love the design mounting the router bit barely in the chuck that’s not a good idea. Maybe make the fingers a little thinner shouldn’t be too much of an issue as it’s always supported by the piece you’re working underneath it’s only a template so the load is taken up by whatever is underneath it.

Before screwing in the one side stopper/guide, how much wood did you plain off and why. Reason I'm asking, the material being routed (finger jointed) will be resetting on that end stopper, so by reducing the size of the first stick affects the first cut....I hope my concern is making sense here.

Changing the router bit with a dovetail one you can also use this jig to quickly cut dove tail joints 😉
@andreachinaglia58042 жыл бұрын
not exactly, take a look at the keller dovetail system, that is working on a similar idea, you will see that to work you need 2 different bits and a template that is different from the one that is used here.
@alessandrosuppini9432 жыл бұрын
@@andreachinaglia5804 that’s trye if you want to keep them fancy (different size for tails and pins) but if you go down the path of simmetric tails and pins you can domit with just one router bit and one jig 😉

Was looking to make something similar but I don’t understand why the whole thing is so wide? Are you anticipating cutting 8” deep fingers? Also why the middle is so wide; sure you want surface area for the glue but it’s not like there’s a lot of force pulling them apart during use. You also have additional support from the piece on the bottom.
@幸せな雨8 ай бұрын
I guess its safer and easier to operate this way. Router is supported nicely and won't tip over the edges.

THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THE PLANS !!!!👍👍 Woodsmith magazine has a similar design, but no build video on KZbin, just a demo. It looks like their design ensured the spaces cut slightly wider than fingers, but i am not sure how they achieved that. In your build are the fingers and routed spaces all equal width? & if so, do you find the joints to be too tight? Thanks you again, so much for sharing your builds and plans with us.+ з цим, вашим шаблоном, чи всі пальці та розрізані проміжки боків готової коробки однакової ширини? і якщо так, то чи вважаєте ви з’єднання занадто тугими? Ще раз дякую, що поділилися з нами своїми будівлями та планами. ~🛠Lisa♿

I love the simplicity of these 'staggered finger' jigs but something I see in every video which shows one in use is there's no attention paid to the router breakout (you can see it in this video too). Surely there should be some waste timber front and back face when routing cutouts for the joints, to prevent breakout?

Did I see that right? You don't use a jacket around the router bit? How do you manage then not to destroy the template? Like your footages by the way. Stay safe

My calculations for Bosch 1200 handheld router shows that this jig needs specific bit dimensions for specified jig tooth depth and specified maximum workpiece depth. You can manage to find a bit for material thickness of about 23mm max. For thicker material it is not easy obtain appropriate bit. I made my first box with it - beautiful jig!

That's a truly exceptional jig my bro.. Salute to u Sir. I love seeing ppl creating their own jigs for woodworking. U are very talented and as I'm just too bloody lazy to read in the description what wood u used to build the jig I was guessing white Oak or maple?? Oak is a beautiful wood bit I also love Walnut too. They've become very very expensive from what I've been told and as a newbie to this game of woodworking I could do with some advice if u have time or maybe anyone in this comment section could give me an answer to a couple of Q's.. I want to begin building kitchen Cabinets and I was wanting to ask someone which is the best wood for that?? Also how good is MDF and is the Green HDF board more for rooms like Bathrooms and kitchens?? Is it a special type Of MDF? I saw on another video that u can get BLACK MDF board now too? What the heck is in that stuff. It can't be good for us when sanding stuff like that.. Thanks everyone and to the man who built this cracking jig for his router BIG UP TO U SIR.... AGAIN I SAY SALUTE TO U SIR.
