Totally agree with You on iron volume. I use zero discrimination all the time, but set volume of iron at 1 or 2 but more so on 2. I still like to hear the iron but at a lower volume. I have been detecting since 1970, and still go out about 6 hours a day. Metal detecting is a Great Hobbie and helps You keep in shape.

Thanks for the video. I've used a Simplex for nearly 4 years and unfortunately digging beer caps is a real problem for me because down here in Australia there's too effin many of them in parks because us Aussies love our beer too much and it seems the majority of people who drink beer in parks or on reserves just toss their caps on the grass rather than bin them! So many bottle caps, hardly any good targets because our parks are smashed to death sometimes makes me want to hang my detector up! I hate the fact the Nokta Makro Simplex + registers rusty bottle caps and rusty iron in general buried in the dirt as over 90 and fools me into thinking it might be a florin or a roo penny, that to me is no good, iron should ring low not high, it has frustrated me over the years to no end. As a result I have bought a Minelab Equinox 800 and buried beer caps ring super low in the ground especially rusty ones so I hardly dig any which has made metal detecting much more enjoyable for me. I do totally agree that I will be missing good targets underneath but it's too much time and effort and for me personally it's psychologically exhausting to dig every beer cap known to man only for the park to be replenished with a shit ton more beer caps a year later and the fact that the parks are hunted to death that there's not many good stuff left so I will be digging 50 - 100 caps for one good target, I just can't do that anymore!

If you pump the coil down on the target it will tell you if it's a rusty cap

I still dig them up. That bottlecap could have a goodie in the hole with it. Pumping coil works good too.

A clean bottle cap rings up as a penny, an old rusty one, rings up just like a quarter at 90

Those rusty ones sound sweet!
