I like your vids. One trick i use when painting rims with tires still on them. Is to rub vaseline on the tires. its cheap and keeps the paint off the tires. you should try it some day on some old tire and rim you have laying around.

Kenneth Dixon that’s a really great trick. I have used the tape method and paint always ends up on tire. One of my tricks is to use flat black paint to do the wheels. 🤠 I have allied this method to the entire tractor as well.

HI Norman: Just a note about bearings. There is a code number/letters on the seal besides the normal number. These will indicate the type of seal and possibly a different physical size . I've run into that problem also. Since then I always compare the size specs. to make sure they also match the old bearing. I usually get all of mine at the local NAPA store and they are good about looking them up and comparing he size to the ones on their book. If they don't have it they will get it in usually within 24 hrs. or less. Digital caliper will get you close enough I got one from Harbor freight for $12 that works pretty good.

Looking good! One trick I've seen with paining rims that have the tires on them is using 3x5 index cards stuck into the bead.
@RustyZipper
@RustyZipper 5 жыл бұрын
I’ve always worried that paint would get under an edge. I tape mine to start like Norman but then use masking paper. You can trace the masking paper with a flat object on the rim then cut out the circle but that is too easy for me
@chrisdover8014
@chrisdover8014 5 жыл бұрын
@@RustyZipper That would be a concern. Every time I've seen it done, the person always had a fairly large overlap to try and prevent it. Ive also heard, but never tried, that tire shine or Armor All can help prevent paint from sticking.

Easier way to get the tie rod ends loose from the spindle is to bang on the side of the spindle where the tapered part of the tie rod goes thru, usually a few good hard wacks gets it loose with no damage to the threads or nut

When painting rims with the tires still mounted on them, a method I've come up with is to go buy some cheap, large notecards. Then air down the tire completely, and insert the note cards in to the bead between the rim and tire. Painting is much easier, and much faster this way.

How much did it cost you to rebuild all that? And how much did u give for the tractor? I found one four hours drive one way from me with bad motor do u think it be with buying for $800? AND I HAVE NO SHOP TO WORK on it so it be harder to fix it up would it still be worth $800 for the body only no motor or attachments

I FINALLY got my Onan running and heads are at machine shop. hopefully i have the valves correct this time. I just need to install these awesome LED lights i got from YOU and kick back and wait for snow!! I have 2 questions if you have time later, does your 4041 have that support bearing on PTO shaft? I have a little wear mark in hydraulic lines and i never saw that support before. 2nd, even my 4041 manual says to "disconnect rear hydraulic hoses to run optional front hydraulic accessory piston". So i can't have the 60 inch front plow and a rear blade on at same time?? My hydraulic uh, valve? (The one the lines connect to inside the dash) has the two seperate areas, basically it's twice the size of that one, which im sure you know what i mean. So could one theoretically use front and back if having that system without damage? Is that warning for the single ones?

@Isavetractors
@Isavetractors 5 жыл бұрын
The tire was unusually stiff. This is the first time I've encountered the 20x8-10 wheel. Everything on the wheel measured right so it could have been a combination of the tire stiffness plus being warped in the warehouse and shipping.

Ok. Now use your big words. HOW is it junk? Because "you know it"?Pointing at something and calling it junk, then after being questioned why, pointing again and just say its junk again by calling each individual piece junk, isn't a logical argument. Just because you aren't skilled, talented, or obviously intelligent enough to fix up an old tractor to work for you doesn't mean you have to bring your insecurities here and attack people who can? Are onans hard to work on? Yes, especially at first for inexperienced people, but they've won world wars and kept millions of people safe, warm, and dry for countless hours during the worst times of their lives. The rest of the tractor, ive not a clue why you're calling it junk.
@dustinpollard6237

Oh, maybe by "rear end" you mean rear PTO that are often broken on these? 45 years of abuse later? How are you heating your house this winter? Its one of the coldest since the 90s. I bought a "junk" coal stove for 125, worked on it all summer, and fixed it up. October i ripped out the REAL junk, but new, expensive and top of the line pellet stove and put the coal stove in, my floors are rarely below 75 even on 15 degree days and ive not reached even 200 dollars of fuel yet. I would have spent 3 hours a day cleaning and filling the hopper. I would have bought 3 tons of pellets at 225 a pop, just to be cold and sleep terribly because i have to make sure that the pellets didn't back up and shut down the stove with its "top of the line safety features" all night. Just because you can't or don't know how to fix or use something, doesnt mean the product is junk. Don't know why I'm wasting my time, that medical has me wanting to teach lol
