I am 64 years old. I wore a body suit with jeans and pants to high school in the 1970's. They were fantastic...always stayed tucked in, always sleek and nice. Loved them until the weather got hot, then it was time for wearing cotton rather than the nylon of the bodysuit.

I can't believe how Simplicity tricked you with the seam allowances. That's so cruel to hide that information in the Notes section. I don't think I've ever even looked at that section of a pattern! Beautiful work on your bodysuit, Liz. You're such a clear teacher. 🤓

If you were making view A you probably would have seen it, but my directions were on a completely different sheet.... Needless to say I was a bit miffed!

This explains so much 🤦‍♀️I've had so much trouble with the seam allowance on this pattern. The first time it was my fault as I'm used to having to add it so I did and it came out too big. The next time I started cutting out a size smaller before realising it was included. By now I've gone so much back and forth I don't know what size I need but I'm reluctant to start from scratch.

Enjoyed the tutorial, Liz. Love your bodysuit-the fabric is so pretty! I prefer to insert sleeves flat when sewing with knit fabric-it's easier for me and I use seam stabilizer, too. Looking forward to seeing more of your April makes.

I literally just had to take this pattern back to Walmart because it had the instructions but not the actual pattern inside. I was so hurt! 😢

Loving your sew alongs Liz, I made myself the Marlborough Bra the other day - love it! I'm now inspired to get that Rowan bodysuit pattern I have out and whip a couple up for the West Oz winter :-)

It would be better if you had recorded the sewing process. It's boring when you speak soooo much trying to explain, but don't show how you actually do it. Most people learn by sight too, because it complements the theory. Thank you for the video, the pattern it's nice.

I agree! These videos are called sew alongs but yet we aren't seeing any sewing? Most people watch these videos to learn techniques and we can't do that if we aren't seeing the process!

I actually learned a lot from this video, and her talking through the tips as she went along was very helpful to me. I like both types of videos, but just watching the machine sew along becomes a little repetitive at some point.

Informative video, where did you purchase the snap applicator?

I got it from here, the only thing I would say is to pass on the hole punch, I don't think it's worth it but I use it all the time for snaps and rivets: goldstartool.com/heavy-duty-press-for-grommets-snaps-buttons-rivets-die-set.html

Great video. Could I please ask which model Bernina are using and are you happy with it? 😊

It's a 350PE. I love it!... the only thing I wish it had is dual feed but you have to spend a lot more $$$ to get that option with Bernina

I don't understand how you did the neckband. Did you just sew it right sides with right sides than fold it over. I'm just confused because in the first clip you did that and than in the second clip you had sewed what looks like right sides to wrong side??
@LizSews
@LizSews 4 жыл бұрын
the neckband is folded in half (so both sides are "right" sides) and the raw edges of the band match-up to the raw edge of the neckline. Once its sewn on you press the neckband outwards so the folded edge is what finishes the neckline.

Thank you very much! I think I had stumbled on this company before but now I'm going to save the link. One more question: any input on what size dies/snaps for garment making would be the most versatile? What did you use on the crotch? Sorry to be so needy, just taking advantage the topic to get the max amount of useful info!

I have the 10 mm standard spring snaps which is what I used on the body suit. I do think they look a tad small if you use them for the front of a shirt. I am going to get the 12.5mm next once I use all of these. I think think the 12.5 would be more versatile

Elizabeth, what make of press do you use? It's such a minefield and I prefer to buy something tried and tested! Hope you can oblige. Thank you

I got it from Gold Star Tools, It cost a little more than some that you see on Ebay but I liked the idea that they also sell all the dies so I know they will work with the machine: goldstartool.com/heavy-duty-press-for-grommets-snaps-buttons-rivets-die-set.html
