newbie here, is the lace applied to the top of the panty stretch lace? also the elastic attached to the top of the lace is not stretched at all? does it just follow the length of the lace? such good information especially for someone who just wants to start sewing lingerie. thank you.

Oh my goodness I am so excited. I have become drawn to the idea of making my own bras and panties since watching you!! My favorite panty is out of production 🙄. Also the idea of a bra that truly fits is very attractive. And here you are explaining the procedures!! Thank you Thank you!!!

A great tutorial like always! Your videos are very helpful. I seem to still be having a problem when I sew using fold-over elastic on knickers and the elastic becomes "wavy". I've tried adjusting the amount I stretch the FOE as I sew to see if this makes a difference but no luck so far. I've also tried doing a basting stitch when the elastic is flat and then folding it over as you show. Do you have any idea why this could be happening? Thank you!

Really helpful info, thank you. I've been sewing for many years, but being full-busted, I never made my own undergarments - too big a fan of high quality & too scared of failure. With the advent of Fast Fashion, I've realised I couldn't possibly make anything as badly as what's in the bra section of shops now - insufficient fabric for support & straps set so wide apart that I'd have to be built like one of the Australian Wallabies to keep the straps on my shoulders. Here's to learning something new with your help.

Thank you so much for your tutorials .... is there a calculation on how to measure the elastic needed for the waist and leg? Thank you Jayne x
@LizSews4 жыл бұрын
I never measure my elastic, I just apply it and cut off whatever I don't need once i've completed the circle. If your trying to figure out how much buy I would measure around your hips and thighs and that should be plenty.

LizSews thank you Liz .... I guess I need to practice my tension more as some times I stretch too much and other times not enough lol x

Thank you so much for your clear tutorials. I have just discovered your channel and I prefer to draft my patterns as bought ones never fit. This video will help me finish the panties nicely Next, I need to measure myself.

Liz - after watching many, many bra making tutorials (most of which were snooze fests), I finally found your channel. Since I am a total newbie to making bras I was hoping you could guide me on where I should start. I do have sewing skills but I have never made or even shopped for one. Thank you for any guidance you can offer.

Hi Liz! I just want to send you a huge THANK YOU for all your content, especially your bra tutorials. You explain things so well, and everything truly clicks with me after watching. I have one question/request: I'm really into sewing vintage patterns from the 1940's. Bras from that era were a bit more "pointy", though not quite bullet bras. Have you made any bras that have a more vintage silhouette like that? I am considering the Classic Bra from Pin Up Girls, and would love to see you try that pattern!

I was confused by the stitching on the skinny elastic. I thought the trimmed panty fabric was the inside; that the lace was sewn on top of it, but then why was the skinny elastic put on top of the lace? Is the trimmed panty fabric edge supposed to be showing on the outside?
@LizSews4 жыл бұрын
Your right the skinny elastic should be sewn to the inside of the lace

Why not use double needle
@LizSews4 жыл бұрын
Twin needle stitches are more prone to breaking than zig zags. On lingerie the elastics are worn under tension so the stitches must be strong. Twins are more appropriate for things like neck bindings and hems that may need to stretch once to get over the body but are not under constant tension
