Oh my giddy aunt! That is amazing! I love it soooo much. I'm about to make a Coda puff jacket but this has inspired me to give this look a go some time later. Such inspiration. I love the buttons. Also, the bias binding on the edges prevents the itchy top fabric from irritating the back of the neck and the wrists (places I might likely have exposed to it).

I am twin needle team. But I don't use a stablizer. I use woolly nylon in the bobbin and a regular foot. My hem is just 3/4" or 1 inch and I topstitch really close to the edge. I also serge the edge because I like the look of it finished. Quick and easy. Oh and I have two machines, so I thread one for twin needle and one for regular stitching.😊

Outstanding Jacket! I was thinking about this when I first saw the pattern. Have been wanting to make the French inspired jacket for years. Fabric is in my stash and waiting. You have inspired me to get going. Have to find some trim. I am just finishing a denim Coda which I quilted with a pretty paisley lining. I accidently trimmed the front on the wrong side and just about ruined it. I put a patch over it and quilted it and now you can hardly tell. I can so relate as to how out mind can go off somewhere. As usual you made a wonderful garment and should be proud and will wear it for many years to come! Congratulations.

Thanks Karina, so glad I decided to watch this even if the jacket is not something I would ever make.... I had been eying the boyfriend cardigan (was thinking of drafting something similar) and had started drafting pants like the allegro, then you announce the sale on love notions. Used your affiliate link! Also wanted to say your channel has been my go to for advice on sewing, although my mother is a master tailor and fashion designer she skips steps when explaining things to me (as I am not a sewer at all). BTW regards from my mother, she agrees that if you hand sew the seam then you should hand sew the other parts ie binding.

You are lucky to have your mother for advice. My mum does not sew at all so I fumbled a lot when I started as a kid. Lots of trial and error. I’m 100% a fan of hand sewing. The results are so much nicer:)

Beautiful jacket! I attempted a French jacket a couple of years ago. It’s not hard but time consuming. I kept putting it away and by the time I did finish it, it was too small for my body! They really are beautiful though, I should give it another go!

I made a lined jacket out of loosely woven fabric but didn't use interfacing. I wish I had. Is it worth trying to add some now?. I love how you add your personality to the patterns. Canadian Sue

I did a proper full bust adjustment. 1/2” to the pattern piece and that generated the dart.

Would the seam binding be absolutely needed? Or is it needed for stability? I can’t decide which way to go? Thought I would definitely line and trim. Really a couture make. Love all you do.

Yes you need to finish the edges. Would you leave them raw? It’s also needed to stabilise so it doesn’t just “flop”. I would not sew it wrong sides together abs flip it. It would be very flimsy.
