Please help me, I've been stuck at this for days. First I tried to install nextcloud then heard I should install mariadb first, a lot of the videos I watched were old so what I'm dealing with is a little different. My current problem is I can't access anything in MariaDB, I go to nextcloud and try to create an Admin Account and with connected database, but I get a Access Denied message. Same thing in this tutorial, whenever I try to login to the mariaDB server through adminer I get the same Access Denied message! What should I do?

Great video, thank you for the work! One quick tip that I got stuck on... when logging into the database, I was having issues using the ip:port under the "server" field. Rather, I was able to get into my database by entering the docker container name under the "server" field of adminer. Hope this helps someone!

I'm just giving up at this point it is impossible to set up docker databases manually for me in Unraid, might try to configure a new VM to put them in but I'M SURE it will give me more problems. For now I'm gonna go ahead and kill myself :D

@untitled4122 I un-installed mariadb to clear the settings, reinstalled it, and then chose a password with no special characters. Mariadb only allows uppercase, lowercase, and numbers in a password. That fixed it.

just an update - the new new maria db is kinda weird, does not give the info you need from the logs (at least that i seen), since you dont set the password -- it generates one for you. so i just used maria official (as far as i know its on unraid lol) and the password should be in the logs 'GENERATED ROOT PASSWORD' -- that was my fix but let me know if you all see something different for using maria db. the error that was occurring was "Access denied for user 'root'@'localhost' (using password: YES) for future reference best luck to you all and congrats/best adventures on your server :)

Hello sorry if this is me being stupid but I followed this video and I keep getting Access denied for user 'root'@ error. The setting on MariaDB are different from this video as i am guessing they updated it and I think this is where I'm inputting something wrong can anyone help me with this. Thanks

works for me, but I removed those extra paths in the current template (user_name, user_password and external url I think), so I only set the root password and left everything else the same as in the video, then I used Adminer to access maria db to create data bases, users etc (you only need root password for that and IP for maria db).

For people looking at he comments trying to find out why this doesn't work, THIS is the answer. Remove all the extra fields. Also, ensure your root password does not contain special characters. The video is a starting point, but you can't actually actually complete the setup without these changes.

@@moritz8746 I followed the video and am able to create a new database but when I try to create a new user for it it says "Operation CREATE USER failed for 'user1@%'. During the initial mariadb setup I populated MYSQL_DATABASE, MYSQL_USER and MYSQL_PASSWORD. Any idea if populating those would cause my issue?

Just an FYI to anyone else coming to this video as part of another tutorial series, the version of Adminer shown here is built using a outdated version of PHP that is no longer supported. Also, the docker container seems to be abandoned. If security is of concern, you will need to look for a different container.

If you can't log in usually the password you set on mariadb is either too short or invalid. I suggest removing it then use the cleanup appdata plugin to remove it's appdata. Install again and this time use a decent password that isn't too crazy.

@@IBRACORP I already have NextCloud and another app using MariaDB is all that data going to be lost or is there a way to back it up then wipe the container then move that data back?

Oh in that case please don't do that it will delete your existing data. I assumed it was a new instance

In that case using command line you can change the password for MariaDB
