Agreed! The camera only pulls power from that battery when it's on too. And since it only turns on when you drop in to view live footage or the alarm is triggered, it's bound to last quite awhile!

So if someone is robbing your house and you only get 1 minute of recorded footage and the video quality is only 1600p and the thieves face is blurry when you zoom in how good can it really be? Plus why does the dang camera switch in and out of night vision mode so much?! The last generation of simplicams had huge issues and these new ones do to.

Just got SimpliSafe & it’s pretty good so far. I’ve had some issues but customer service is great and everything was taken care of. The only thing is the motion sensors I cannot seem to get them to not stop responding no matter where I move them or the base station. Other than that everything works fine and the indoor camera has motion detection so that is fine with me.

Simplisafe doesn't allow you to disarm the system verbally because an intruder could coerce you to do that. Only arm it.

Good presentation 👍, my wife and I just bought a house, she suggested simplisafe as means for home security. I like the customizable features the system has, the cons you shared wouldn't be a hindrance for our purposes. With most security systems im sure they simplisafe will continue to upgrade their systems, but for our purposes I believe simpli would be a good fit. Thanks

Just got mine installed today so learning how it works. Besides the door/wndow sensors sounding the alarm after 30 sec...How do u get notified on motion detected from outdoor cameras?

Deep sentinal works the same way with agents monitoring and interacting with trespassers/criminals and automatically allerting police about crimes in progress.

Wait I’m confused. My family home has SimpliSafe and it allows multiple codes. We had a secondary code for contractors during renovations

Sorry if I was confusing there. You can add up to four unique codes on the PIN pad, but other systems let you give that access through the app. So it makes sense that your contractors had their own.

Can I view doorbell video on echo show?

No. The only thing you can do through Alexa is to arm the system. I tried to log into my SimpliSafe account on my Echo Show and it seemed to be too much data to handle as it crashed my Echo. (I have no problem logging in on my computers, even my 12 year old macbook handles it just fine).

So if you don't want to pay a monthly, Simplisafe is still an option, but there are limitations in features. Did you come across this aspect?

I have in past testing! We were able to get the Fast Protect monitoring this time around. But if you choose to skip the monitoring or any monthly fees, you won't be able to save video or get much out of the app.

@@asksafewise Thanks. It seems all of these solutions are focused on a monthly plan business model to just get your money. Its a bill you have to pay with an indefinite price tag.

BEWARE - I have a relatively extensive system with 6 external and 2 internal cameras, all the motion detectors, entry sensors, CO/fire monitors, etc. As such, with thousands invested - it is not easy to change systems at this point, but I may be forced to. Unreliable, weak software that conflicts easily, and poor customer service that always blames any problem on your Wi-Fi connection - despite having a strong 6 unit nested Google system. I have had 4 different alarm systems on homes in the past, and if I had it to do over, I would not choose SimpliSafe again. Just too many problems, the unreliability of the system is frustrating and time consuming.

If you are in a metal building, and wish to deploy external cameras, SimpliSafe is not going to work without some kind of method to get you through the metal building walls. SimpliSafe STILL (3 years later) does NOT have a solution. You will be on your own to devise a fix.

Can't change notification sound in IOS! Deal breaker for us. (and NOBODY ever mentions this in their reviews online). I won't wake up with Apple's simple, one-note notification sound. Sorry SS..I'm moving on.
