They said to remove every other set of spokes.... looking at the pic I think they meant every other set, not sure because the pic is not hi res. Check and plan before cutting.

On the wind chart 1:54 the UK isn't there, they have massive amounts of wind turbines on sea & land, and taking into consideration that Scotland is the no1 windiest place in Europe...

+Looncan Hi Please notice the chart is addressing wind gen vs population by that date. Then it makes sense why such a small country like Portugal comes in third place for example.Or Denmark in first considering they are the worlds biggest producers of wind mills. ;-)

A 24 inch turbine of any sort will not produce more than 15 watts.

Looks like it would take around 20' diameter to drive a 1000 watt heater directly at 10 mph wind. So charge batteries or build many.

Cheers for this, I've been looking for "how to store electricity for home use" for a while now, and I think this has helped. Have you heard people talk about - Diyadison Penhloe Blaster - (Have a quick look on google cant remember the place now ) ? no way. this kind of generator has been made by hobbyists for more than a century. they may have a patent for a very specific design, but no patent would be given for the general idea. and even if somehow they managed to get a patent for the general description it wouldn't stand up in court because as i've said people have been making these for over a century.
