The craziest thing about this for me is that the last time Batora held WR by himself was OVER 10 YEARS AGO - February 2011 with a 1:52:02. Ten years and over 13 and a half minutes of time save later, not only is he STILL running the category, but he's doing it at a level where he can be the greatest in the world yet again. Wild.

Nate froggy I'm taking a break just from speedrunning but I'm building up my skills to get good skills one time I got a world record in the game submitted it got verified and then only a couple of days ago someone had already beaten my world record and it just felt very unsatisfying to me I was like wow been playing games for 20 years now I finally get to the top level of gaming I get the world record in something only to have someone take it from me within just a couple of days and I thought no that's not happening so I decided that that's not going to happen again so I mostly want to focus on building my skills instead of just rushing in to world records only to have them possibly get t beaten in a few days or even a few minutes

Guess what y’all. You can save upwards 3 to 4mins if you allow the monkey on that one stage take your cap. All the stage exit animations are literally 4 to 7 seconds faster than when Mario has his cap on. So once you get to second floor just throw that Mario Cap away and save all that juicy time. In a run this long, with all the small, very easily fixable mistakes the runners make the idea that 1:37 is as good as it's going to get is juvenile. We get it, it's going to be hard, the idea that it can't/won't get lower when the possible time saves available are easily repeatable is stupid. It's not like someone has to pull off carpetless to get 1:36 so stop with this narative that it's too hard. Too hard is when the current strats aren't enough to get to the next milestone and you may be looking at needing to come up with something new or do something extremely hard, really really late in to the run eg, carpetless. The sum of best times for many are low 1:36 or even high 1:35 at the start of a run. The idea that someone won't eventually play that perfectly is again, juvenile. How did someone with this mentality get WR?

There's something you don't understand about sum of bests in a one and a half hour run. In one of the most inconsistent games of all time, SM64. I mean, you could do 1:36 segmented. IF YOU ARE A TOP 5 RUNNER.
