Je me demande..... are French people learning English baffled by our use of "new" in all given cases? I know English has its own seeming inconsistencies, but examples such as this must be truly confounding. Enjoyed this one very much. Merci!

Good point! I agree entirely - the French have just the same issues with different ways of saying things! Either way, compassion and understanding helps us learn more!
