I normally use the constrictor knot, but I love these other methods you've shown us. The braid and spiral are my favs! Thank you for the lesson. ☺

💙 Yah the constrictor knot is definitely the most popular method and what most artists use. I personally use all the other ways more often just because I’m odd haha ...but the spiral and the braid are lovely ways to add something extra to your projects. Thanks for watching 💙

💙 Thank you! I agree, the simplicity of just a plain larks head is the best way to not distract from your work. Thank you for watching 🥰

My daughter has made me a beautiful wall hanging which is large and heavy. I believe she used a slip knot, but the weight of the hanging keeps dragging it into the middle of the pole and the hanging cord gets longer and longer. She’s a beginner, so Any ideas? 4:12🙏

💙 I use the slip knot method 95% of the time, here is what I do: after adding the slip knots to both sides, I will take the remaining tail end and tie a half hitch. What this does is prevents the slip knot from opening wider and it also makes the tail end point downwards at the back of my wall hanging which hides it a bit. If it’s still moving around I will add hot glue to the back, on the short tail end so that it lies flat and against the back of the dowel/branch Hope that helps you out 🤗

I usually do constrictor knot but for the life of me couldn't get it on my current piece so had to look it up

Hi, I'm trying to do the spiral cord. As it starts spiraling do I use the other cord from the outside? I kept using the same cord and it seemed lose it's spiral after about 10 knots.

I always prefer the spiral knot to hang my macrame. Being a male, I do not refrain from using it, even though, in your opinion, it looks "feminine". Haha, curious you said that. There are men who like to do macrame too and I never thought of the knots having a gender!
@SimplyInspiredbySheena2 жыл бұрын
💙 Knots absolutely have no gender and of course are for everyone. In Art class, round soft curvy lines or shapes always plays up to femininity (or at least I was always taught), and the opposite…sharp angles and straight lines tends to bring out more masculine qualities. But you are correct, it depends on the artist and what vibes you express as an individual. Personally to me when I use spiral knots I feel like it takes on a more feminine look

💙 I use a really inexpensive garment rack from Walmart and S-hooks to hang my work off of it. Here’s the link to the exact one I use: www.walmart.ca/en/ip/mainstays-single-rod-garment-rack-white/6000112169810

Needle name please?

💙 I’m sorry, I’m not quite sure what you are referring to. However I use tapestry needles, fine craft wire, and fishing line to help aide me in macrame. Hope that helps ☺️
