My favorite since I was a little girl and the youngest in the family. They always saved it for me! I am 70 now, still love them with my coffee!

Maranitos!!! 😭 You've brought back so many memories when I use to work at my Dad's panaderia. My dad was from Mexico, so all ingredients came from a small book that held ingredients of all his creations. Our work ethic was always on point! Which I loved!💗 Your recipe is almost the same. My job was placing each cut-out maranito on the pans, and brushing the egg on top of each. There was always a routine for each type of pan Mexicano created by my dad. I have one of his maranito-shape cutter he used. Each mold used to cut were made personally by my dad. Just letting you know watching this video brought my mom, and I, to tears. 😭 Thank you for sharing you art of cooking and baking. We are always watching.💗💗💗💗💗

@@reflexionesdelabiblia6711 maybe they're more common in Mexican- American households than Mexico. But very common in panaderias here

I was so excited to try this recipe and thanks to your links I could finally buy my marinto cutter. But mine came out dry. I'm a semi experienced baker so I definitely need to tweak to make them just a touch softer. Flavor was spot on! I used anise extract instead of ground. Thank you so much for sharing this recipe. It's going into my recipe folder! Oh and if you have any suggestions to make them a little softer I'm all ears lol.

If you've never had them, I would like to suggest that you try your hand and make them. They are traditionally eaten in the morning after breakfast or as a breakfast on their own with a cup of coffee with milk. I personally love them most with a cup of hot tea. They are something like a mild gingerbread cookie.

These look amazing!! I am going to have to try this recipe! The piloncillo reminded me of visits to my grandmas house growing up, she would literally chew that thing little by little every day hahahha. Also my local panaderia sells all types of pan dulce for only a quarter a piece haha. So it's hard for me to want to try to make pan dulce myself, but this recipe looks so fun!!
