@@UnnormaI I was just in Bulgaria and we were in the old DB IC coaches from Sofia to Plovdiv and they were in decent condition. A definite upgrade over the old East German rolling stock still used on other intercity routes

Your comment about wishing for a delay for a later arrival matches mine when I take Amtrak's Sunset Limited into Los Angeles. Scheduled arrival is 0530. I'm actually glad for a delayed arrival. But not five hours, as on two occasions. Didn't hurt me because I wasn't going out until the next day, but several passengers were booked on the same-day Coast Starlight, and had to be bussed all day to catch up with their train. Ugh.

I'm impressed by the train station in Sofia. Looks modern and decent. Looking forward to the modernisation of Bucharest North in a couple of years
@ganz39958 минут бұрын
The Sofia station itself looks pretty good, but the area in front of it (square and pedestrian underpasses) is terrible. There is a project to entirely transform the area, really hope to see it materialize.
@ganz39954 минут бұрын
The Sofia-Burgas line is currently being rebuilt for a speed of 160 km/h. When it's finally complete around 2027 this night train will likely become obsolete as the whole distance will be covered in around 3.5 to 4 hours.

There are captions, enable CC. They are simply an add-on now instead of applied in the edit.

There are trains from Belgrade to Sofia? I'm planning a trip to the Balkans and I'm thinking a lot to finish in Belgrade or to add Sofia, Plovdiv and end in Istanbul! There are trains from Plovdiv to Istanbul?
@ganz399514 минут бұрын
Currently not. The Belgrade-Sofia train stopped around 2020. Hopefully it will return in a few years when track reconstruction between Nis and Sofia is complete. There is a Sofia-Istanbul night train via Plovdiv.

Despite what this video is trying to promote, I would not be comfortable traveling on any train, Bulgarian or not, that is so heavily vandalized by anti-social "street artist" criminals. Makes you wonder about the quality of maintenace on such trains and what other problems that the Bulgarians are ignoring on these trains.

No, it's not. These carriages were newly built for Bulgarian Railways. It is customary to write the term "Sleeping Car" in various languages externally.
