I just found this video and I’m glad I did because I want to build my bedroom and bathroom dioramas and I was pondering if I wanted to use MDF, rigid foam or regular board and now I’m definitely going this route because I have plenty of posterboard, cardboard and dowels! I’ll 3D print my door and handles and I’m definitely creating a floor like yours! As always, thank you so much!

It was so creative so you should be proud! I’ve printed some stocking stuffers and some dollhouse miniatures including a 12-cube kallax shelf and a desk but they’re not my creations. I get free files from my 3D printer group and I’ve purchased from either Etsy or Cults3D. I want to create my own but I haven’t learned Tinkercadd yet. Thanks for asking.

@@DollsandEverythingElse3D modeling is definitely a learning curve, but it's so rewarding! You are just so talented. Everything you do is just so beautiful. Is the gesso you use to make the brickwalls, is that the same gesso, you use to paint the walls with?
@SimplystellaTV Жыл бұрын
First of all wow, thank you!! 😮😍❤️❤️ And no they're not the same thing! I should have probably mentioned it. The one I used to make the brick texture is actual gesso (or stucco, I've never understood the difference 😂) whereas what I used to paint the walls is *acrylic* gesso. Acrylic gesso is a lot thinner then "gesso" gesso and can be applied with brushes (it has a similar consistency as acrylic paints, but dries to a more opaque and textured finish). Regular gesso is quite thick and you need some kind of spatula(or your fingers 🤫) to apply it. Hope this helps! 😊

What are the main advantages of using wood reinforced cardstock over foamcore. Using foamcore for the walls would make it a lot simpler!😅 So I imagine there are reasons I’m not thinking of.
@SimplystellaTV Жыл бұрын
@@clarissemiller3274 Main reason is availability 😂 I used cardstock and wood sticks because, at least in my experience, they’re easier to find and a lot cheaper. I always get mine at the dollar store; foam board is a pain to get... I have only seen it in art stores and it was way too pricey for me (+ it was never big enough for what I do 😞). I also think that cardstock may be easier to cut and that wood may be a bit sturdier, although I might be wrong 🤷♀️ If you already have foam board, go ahead and use that instead! And don’t forget to tell me how it goes because I’m super curious.😍
@clarissemiller3274 Жыл бұрын
@@SimplystellaTV I agree the wood reinforcement probably does make it sturdier, but I don’t have the tools to cut the wood. I’m curious, what tool did you use?
@SimplystellaTV Жыл бұрын
@@clarissemiller3274 they can be cut with a small hand saw, or even a sturdy cutter! Personally though, I'm lazy and have literally no muscles 😂😂😂 so I prefer to use a rotary tool (www.amazon.com/gp/search?ie=UTF8&tag=simplystella-20&linkCode=ur2&linkId=78d0140e7b9e9034189db1ad96a11f58&camp=1789&creative=9325&index=arts-crafts&keywords=Rotary-Tool). Basically! It's a rotary tool by Parkside: kzbin.info/www/bejne/f3emdYGKe9SWrs0si=WyCida1PJ2k9Yepv I also own a Dremel, but it doesn't work well/at all 😢 so I mostly use this one. It's technically a cheaper brand but works better, IMHO 😂
@grant254ish Жыл бұрын
My daughters are absolutely going to want to try this. Do you have a list of the tools you use? I’m certain we don’t have most of what you used 😂 we may have teeezers and an exacto knife but they tool that might be a drill of some sorts we do not have. Not sure what it’s called.
@Shari_A._ Жыл бұрын
A dremel with various attachments is a good tool to have. Can be used for slicing through things, drilling, sanding, polishing, etc.
@SimplystellaTV Жыл бұрын
Haahahah yes I'm very spoiled 😅🤣 and yes that is a drill! If you don't have one, an awl could be a pretty good substitute, although it does require more strength 😂 (and time). As Shari mentioned, a Dremel-type rotary tool is great for this kind of projects, as it allows you to cut, buff and drill a variety of materials. I've even recently found a super cheap one that works surprisingly well! To be fair most of these projects CAN be made using just an exacto knife, an awl and a nail file - the "fancy" tools make the job faster/easier but they're not absolutely necessary! ❤️
@SimplystellaTV Жыл бұрын

@LindaMarani Жыл бұрын
