My smokes really bad and waste to much oil is draining both oil and gas from the filter

This sounds more like a gasket leak, which is a more involved repair as you need to take the head of the engine off and replace the gasket while making sure the bots are tightened according to specs. Good luck if you decide to go for it.

if you drain the tank and carb condensation can freeze up and make cracks, best practice is to leave full tank gas with some fuel stabilizer in it.

Good video, but I would prefer if you talked and didn't play the music. Anyway, I think with any small engine, if it's going to sit around awhile, it's best to use an engineered fuel, like Tru-Fuel, or add a fuel stabilizer.

Thanks. I agree, it's probably much better to use those if you already plan on having the engine sit for a long period of time. I found it easier to just use ethanol free fuel for all small engine equipment even though I don't plan on them sitting around long period of time.

FYI I learned the hard way why not to use gasoline with ethanol. My pressure washer powered by a Honda small engine wouldn't start because the carburetor was all gummed up and beyond repair. Once I found the model number and serial number I searched the internet for replacement parts. Prices varied significantly as well as parts that were engine specific. In order to take the guess work out of the equation I found Honda's Engine Parts website. @t I was easily able to look up parts for my specific engine and serial number. It was great! Diagrams of each component of the engine were clearly labeled with prices below. IMO prices were better than anything I was able to find on the internet plus I knew it was the correct part(s). Honda should clearly state on their engines to use ETHANOL free gas only!

I agree with using Ethanol free gas on all small engines. Car engines would be somehow ok using ethanol gas, but small engines don't do well with it since they sit for prolonged times. I'm glad you were able to find parts for your Honda engine for a reasonable price. In a lot of cases that's pretty tough to do.

I did all this and more....no luck. It will fire and run with a squirt of starting fluid and then die right away after burning the s. fluid up. I had taken the carb. off and apart and let it soak in solvent over night, cleaned out every tiny orifice and jet. Put back together and no difference whatsoever so I will have to by another carb. I sure wish I knew exactly WHAT is stopping it from getting fuel. Thanks for the vid anyways.

Thanks Greg... Well, it seems like you've covered pretty much all the main trouble points. I'd also check fuel lines, tank and the float if you don't see the float bowl filled with gas after you put it together. If the bowl has good amount of fuel, then the issue is the carb and sometimes using thin wires to go over all the jets and passages work too. Good luck, and hope you figure out the issue.

How can you tell? You can literally only see the bowl of the carb, nothing else is visible through the whole video, especially none of the parts that can identify it...

Ah, yes, let's add a video of a piece of machinery being worked only a mechanic. People are bound to find that super interesting. See, instead of watching your video, which is probably super interesting, but i'll never know, I've been venting. Won't give you either thumb.
