In The Sims 1, cleaning is a skill that Sims can improve upon. The plumbing in the house will get dirty and broken with everyday use. When Sims leave dishes out for a longer period of time, they will spoil and start having flies. When cleaning up, Sims will stack up dishes one by one. They can then wash the dishes in the sink, or load the dishwasher.
Sims 2
in The Sims 2, cleaning is also a skill that Sims can improve upon. Showers, Toilets, Bathtubs, and Sinks will need a scrub. When cleaning a dirty toilet, Sims will first lift up the toilet seat, then start cleaning with a toilet brush. Living in dirty surroundings and not keeping up with cleaning, will affect your Sim's mood. So, the kitchen will also need to be kept tidy. Toilets, bathtubs, showers, and sinks will get grimy, making Sims uncomfortable. The kitchen will also get dirty. Sims can clean the counter, even if there is an object on it. Ovens and small kitchen appliances will also get dirty. With The Sims 4: Bust the Dust Kit, cleaning was expanded upon by allowing entire floors to get dirty. In about 3-5 days the house will go from spotless clean, to dusty, then to dirty, and finally the floors will be filthy. One cycle of vacuuming will remove one level of dirt.
