I think John is very optimistic and wants the best for the settlers, but he's actively putting a lot more pressure on them. Building 6 cabins (while more realistic than 6 mansions) is still a lot! I mean, they can barely have a nice warm bath. But, I can't help but love the guy. His love fore Brandi is just so cute

Oh, he's definitely optimistic! 😄 I love writing for his character, there certainly is a depth to him that I think we have not uncovered yet. I don't think he realizes he is putting any strain on anyone, but you worded it perfectly. He has his head so far up the clouds that he doesn't see he's actually also doing a bit of damage to the group. And I also think he is a bit blinded by his love for Brandi. But you're right, they are just so cute together. When I started this, I thought I'd add them to this world and match them, but I had no idea how much I would enjoy the two of them together. 🥰❤️

What a fun episode, absolutely love the little machinima bits you put as cutscenes. And I mix up the numbers all the time too, it's so hard to do calculation on the go while narrating 😅

And I always love it when others add scenes like these to their videos. Your die, die, my Donnie was a true masterpiece. 😍 Oh, the counting and talking at the same time! 😂 I literally facepalmed when editing. Glad I'm not the only one! 😄

I loved all of the storytelling in this ep ❤ And omg a subtitled cutscene? I'm in love! It was so great too - I really appreciate the way you bring us down to earth with the sims, allowing us to get to know them more on a personal level. I find that subtitles can really elevate that, because we get to "hear" the character's voice in a way that retelling in speech can't do. That's not to say that the voiced scenes aren't good, they just provide a different kind of scene. I would love for more subtitled scenes, but I'd also love more voiced scenes. Perhaps a mix of both for different scenarios is the best way to go? It was also great getting to follow along with you deciding on the sims' ltws. I'd love to see more of that 🥰❤

So glad you liked the subtitled cutscene! It was really an experiment since I had shot the footage with the idea to talk over it, but just couldn't with all the coughing fits and my voice starting to sound more and more like a sick sealion. 😅 But I really enjoyed the process much more than I had expected. Will definitely try and do more of them. Thank you for your detailed feedback, that really helps a lot! I think it would be a great idea to keep in a mix of both! You are right, for some scenes talking could work better and for other scenes the subtitles shine a better spotlight on the sims themselves. I guess it depends on how far you want to zoom in on their lives at that point. Which jumps from almost RTS gameplay sometimes, moving resources and dividing tasks, to close-ups and dialogues in other instances, at least for this BACC. Plus I keep jumping from one approach to the other, sometimes just out of distraction, but most of the time because I like experimenting with different approaches. Food for thought! 🥰

Aw this episode was awesome! Loved all the work you put into the filming - cutscenes and little sequences galore! I mean, the John and Brandi one, AWWWW! 🥰🥰 and then Christy and Abhijeet (I've probably spelled that wrong lol) was hilarious and fun, and believable. John will need to be careful that he doesn't push everyone TOO hard, I mean these poor Sims are already working at their limit. 6 cabins will be an amazing starting point and I'm sure he and Brandi can make one of them the start of their forever home and build on as time goes on! 💕💕 maybe Brandi needs to have a word to him about it not mattering what they start out with, because as they fill their home with love and children it will surely naturally grow 😊 Can't wait to meet the rest of the survivors and see how they are integrated into the current group!

Thank you, glad you enjoyed it! 🥰 Yeah, not all the cutscenes were planned and for John and Brandi I thought I'd just do a short clip, but I had so much fun putting it together that it became something else entirely. 😊 Love it when that happens though. So glad you found the Christy and Abhijeet one believable, if I would have know I'd lose my voice, I would have made more close-ups of their faces when they were talking. So it was kind of a puzzle putting the scenes together, I do think it worked out in the end and somehow I think I got closer to their relationship dynamic than I would have if I had stayed at a distance, if that makes sense. 😊 Oh, I like the idea of Brandi having a chat with him about him not realizing how much strain he is putting on the group! 😄 The integration of the others will certainly stir things up a bit, I expect! 😄

There's a sack fridge I love to use that might fit and wouldn't be a mini-fridge but I don't have a link. Sun and Moon or Frac did an emptied version that you can find pretty easily. I think the original is a TSM conversion or something.

Just finished binge watching all episodes and wow ! I really like this series !!! Super happy to find someone else who uses SophieThePuffin's aspirations !! :D I have added in all the base townies to my current Pleasantview and it's fun to see these aspirations interpreted in a different way! Reaaally love your inventory management system + realistic rules for crafting and all those intricate rules for a post-ap playstyle, this is very inspiring !! I've been wondering what mod/cheat enables inventories on community lots though ? I haven't found anything on google yet, so if you're willing to share, or if anyone reading this can help, I'll be super glad ! Can't wait for the next one, heading straight to the poll

The fact that people binge watch this series just makes me so happy and I'm so glad you enjoyed it so much! 🥰 I LOVE SophieThePuffin's calculator! Especially the duality in it, makes for such interesting gameplay, doesn't it? I tried it out for so many sims before and the outcomes are always so fitting, but I can't seem to work it into my rules, because ultimately, with my other neighborhoods, I want to be in control and make exceptions to what any calculator says! 😂 Do you use it for their first aspiration? It seemed appropriate to use it here, because I was curious what the calculator would say and I wasn't disappointed! It's always so interesting and inspiring to see the characters seen from a different perspective by other people too. Watching Ani's series and Bigmouth's machinima have completely changed my view on some of the characters (Bigmouth's Alexander! ❤️) and have inspired me to start playing these townies in a fresh game. 😊 In this series I want to stay "true" to their character by not changing anything, but we all can't help but putting our own spin on them and it's so fun to do that within this series. 🥰 Oh and I sort of always disliked Kennedy before, but I am sooo starting to love that guy through this playthrough. 😂❤️ We'll be getting to his calculator outcomes in the next episode if all goes well. The mod that enables build and buy on community lots (so helpful!) is called "buyenablerBV" in my folder. I can't seem to find where it's from, because the ones on MTS from cathair2005 don't have the BV in their names. The ones on there are for Pets and Downtown, not sure if they work the same, or are outdated. If I find more useful info, I'll add it here! edit: I found it! It's in the comments section for the Pets one, on page 2!

@@StoriesNStrategy Thank you SO MUCH for finding the mod !! I'm downloading it right now ! I use the calculator for 1st and 2nd aspirations ! I've also made up an additional formula to calculate how many kids each sim wants in life based on these aspirations. And I do the contrary haha, if the calculator says so, I'll go with it and build the backstory around it. I liked to be surprised with the turn of events, and it feels good to control things but with a loose hand I'd say, to not have the full responsibility lol ^^ In my PV, Brandi (Serial Romancer / Friend of the World) is devastated after losing Skip and is a "trailer trash" mom who tries to woohoo everyone and anyone just to feel something, and John (Modest Enjoyer / Shady) is kind of a bad guy, he fled SimCity because he owed a lot of money and wants Jennifer to get close to Daniel (who's an important town figure) to benefit from his fame and money. Kennedy is the youngest brother of Benjamin Long and Amin Sims, I haven't yet decided if i find him interesting. He starts as a fresh out of college kind of guy, the only brother with an education in a "new money" rich & slightly problematic family. Goopy is the head of a super rich family, married to Marylena, and older brother of Brandon, the closeted mayor !! So yeah, it's so cool to see what others do, we all take different directions and have different interpretations ! I love it !! I really can't wait to see how they'll evolve iin your game :D OMG yeees I also love Ani's videos !! She's such an inspiration !!! Haven't heard of Bigmouth though, I'll definitely check them out :D

@@emiec5678 omg, I LOVE your explanation for John so much! And the story you created around that! I can totally see that for John. The other pairings sound really interesting too and I totally get why you would make the three guys with that face template brothers. Kennedy "the only brother with an education in a new money rich & slightly problematic family" 😂❤ Those are ingredients for some interesting stories emerging from that family for sure! I'm sure that will be so much fun to play. So Brandon ended up as mayor in your game, that's interesting! He randomly rolled for that political science degree here (as did John) and I must admit I have a hard time seeing him there, because my vision of him is so different. But having to go with that outcome does spark new creativity, which really shows in the stories you created around them based on that calculator. Sorry my response was so late btw, your answer got kind of lost in my notifications and didn't see it until now, but I loved reading every word of it. ❤

This was so great! I love the machinimas :D John and Brandi getting engaged first was very much what I expected. Happy for them! Really excited to see the first family forming up Abjeet and Christy getting together was something I kinda didn't think much about, but you know what, it suits them. The underdogs hahaha But we'll have to see if they are going to stay firm on sticking with the community or not. Very curious Great episode! I love this series :D

Yeah, I love that phrase for them, it really suits them I think. They sure did form their little alliance there... although I think Christy in general might be just too kind and gentle and wouldn't want to hurt anyone's feelings, but we don't know how the world they live in will impact them. 😊 Thank you! 🥰

I play with the berry bushes from S&M but, please tell me, what I have to do to make the "eat" option appear when you click on the sim. I have to take out from the inventory and click on the item to tell the sim to eat it. Sorry for my bad english, is not my first language.

It was actually not my idea! I saw it in a video from Ani Bats and their kids looked so adorable! I instantly fell in love with the idea, because I had never thought of the two of them together. (It somehow never occurred to me to break up John and Jennifer) But at the time there was no opportunity to try it out for myself, because I already had an older Pleasantview going and no intention of starting a new one. So when, much later, I had the idea for this challenge, I thought it would be fun to use the PV townies as survivors. And then I remembered the John & Brandi thing and thought it would be a good way of finally seeing them together, so I added them to the mix. And they are really hard to keep apart, every second I'm not looking they will find each other's company. It really is the cutest thing ever. 🥰
