♦ Sims 2 vs Sims 3 vs Sims 4: Death

A brief comparison on the most basic aspects of death in the 3 latest Sim base games.
As always don't forget to vote for your favorite!
What I considered the most important aspects in death are the ways a Sim can die, the Grim Reaper and the way the can be saved from death. All of the games have quite the experience when it comes to death but let me know what you think it's the best.
Remember Sims 4 is still developing so it's only fair to talk about base game, also, maybe in the future when it's done I'll finish my comparisons with expansion.
My opinion?
Sims 2 has a good variety in deaths but not as much in going back to life, it's a one way track with them mostly but I do like the reaper's appearance and find it funny how he acts like he's giving orders to take the dead sim.
Sims 3 is a little short in deaths, the basic 5 in the base game is just not enough but they make it up with lots of ways to revive a Sim or even make it impossible for them to die in the first place, I took longer than in should to realize my Sim wasn't dying because he was unlucky, RIP John Maxis...Also, I do like how this reaper is all high and mighty reaping the soul apart.
Sims 4 is my favorite when it comes to ways to die and reviving a Sim, good variety in both, what I personally dislike is the reaper, he takes way too long to do his job and isn't doing much but checking his tablet, other than that I do like Sims 4's death.
If I had to pick one it'd be Sims 4 with the reaper from Sims 3 and extra deaths from Sims 2, death by flies is my favorite.
But that's just my opinion, be sure to share yours in the comments!
I was considering including Sims 1 but there are not any ways to bring a sim back to life so I found no point in just showing the most basic deaths and then just stop showing it. Maybe later I will make a death evolution or something to include Sims 1 since many have been asking me to include it and well, it was the first game after all.

In the SIms 3 if a sim who died had an excellent relationship with a pet, the pet can plead for that sim's life and it will mostly work!

Aww. Unfortunately, sims 4 does not have all the features that are there in Sims 3 and or Sims 2 .. it feels incomplete with Sims 4 .. and the sad thing is that you can't even escape death with the death flower in your inventory . I don't think you can make ghost babies either ... at least I haven't tried that yet .. but what bothers me the most is that they did not transfer the individual spirits from Sims 3 to Sims 4 .. I found them so cool .. now you get in Sims 4 a ghost that has no special effects and only changes its color depending on the mood .. like a chameleon.

One of the reasons I never bothered with Sims 4, the ridiculous over the top animations. Then everything looks like a badly made cartoon, soften filter to hide polygon edges, all sims look stoned out of their gourd half the time, all sims no matter the trait end up acting the same, loading screens, less to do in the base game than any other Sims game including the first... I could go on.

In the Sims 3 There is also an Other Way to escape Death (if You have the Sims 3 PETS Extention Pack,) If your sim Has a Dog, and the sim dies and reaper comes, will the Dog Barking And Barking against the Reaper Until the Reaper will bring the owner back but it only works one time

The Grim Reaper loves toddlers, I once had an elderly sim die on my lot while he was visiting his son and granddaughter. The son was mourning over the loss of his dad while old Grim just went over and started helping the toddler with the music skill. It was pretty funny.

The fact of using a clipboard is far less "modern" then using a tablet Soul taking: Sims 4. The "hop and slice" thing are VERY funny and amazing. If you decide to buy it, buy the Expansions aswell. I thought TS4 was lacking aswell, but I got all Expansions (and other stuff, like acc. packs) and since then, I play it alot more and enjoy it more. The base game is really boring, I admit, but Expansions make up for it. I just hope and pray they'll release Seasons and/or Pets in 2017.

Sims 3 Reaper is the best in my opinion! Here are the reasons: 1.The creepy music makes it so much better! 2.The grim reapers design is the best 3.I grew up playing sims 3 4.He doesn’t look through his tablet or through any papers or doesn’t call someone.

Alright, I have a few personal views: 1) Holy crap, The Sims 4 Old Age death freaks me the hell out. It's just seems much more creepy, when the others seemed at least somewhat peaceful. 2) A lot of the death animations for The Sims 3 are definitely copied over from The Sims 2, though I will say I think they shortened the Starvation animation a lot for The Sims 3. 3) The Sims 4 animations in general just really freak me out. It's probably because of art style, or something. Y'know, slightly more real-looking Sims with cartoony, exaggerated death animations... kinda falls into the Uncanny Valley for me. 4) Jesus, that Sims 4 Fire death is more "quietly brutal" compared to the others. The others shriek in agony during their death, but The Sims 4 one just kind of... falls. I don't know, I'm still just freaked out. 5) I like The Sims 2's unique deaths a lot. I was surprised that death by Fright never made a return when I first played The Sims 3. 6) Most of the emotion deaths in The Sims 4 kind of make sense (the Anger one especially), but the Mortification one didn't seem to really fit, like they just kind of needed to add it in SOMEHOW, since most other emotions had it. (Side note: glad that they didn't add death by extreme Sadness; that would have went into real dark territory.) 7) I have killed more Sims with Cow Plants than I care to admit. 8) I agree with someone else's comment that The Sims 4 grim reaper has the coolest soul-taking animation, The Sims 3 grim reaper has the best aesthetic (robe and music), and The Sims 2 has the better "what the hell do I do with this dead Sim"/buying time animation. That's pretty much it. So for those of you that read this, enjoy some random guy's sleep-deprived 6am opinion on Sims death stuff.

Run of the mill "illness" is too vague for my morbid tastes. With the Get to Work expansion pack, there is the option of visiting hospitals and being active doctors, but I agree that there should be more longterm disease-related threats other than simple death. Like infertility, low stamina, poor immune system, insomnia, emaciation, etc. This is petty, but I don't like the look of the "swirls" rash in The Sims 4. It looks like a child's scribbles. e.e

Sims 2 and 3 had some crazy ways to die. Death by Elevator and Mummy's Curse were a couple that were missed in this video. I believe there was also the running with scissors death. Death by Cow Plant exists in both Sims 2 and 4.
