Sims 3
There are two skills a horse can master. Jumping skill and racing skill. The Jumping Skill can be acquired by practicing on many of the obstacles. Horse Racing Skill can be improved by using training posts. You can enter competitions at the Equestrian Center.
Unicorns are magical creatures in The Sims 3. A wild unicorn can be located by the shining cloud above it. They can appear at night (8pm to 5am). On the map there will be a glowing area, suggesting there is a unicorn present.
Unicorns are magical creatures with many special abilities that distinguish them from normal horses. Unicorns often bless plants. But they can also curse and cure plants. There is a chance that a small plant will grow in front of a unicorn. They can also curse Sims and animals. But they can also cure them. Unicorns can bless, curse and cure Sims, plants and animals. Unicorns are followed by a glittering trail whenever they gallop. Unicorns can teleport anywhere, start a fire, extinguish one by bringing a cloud with rain.
There are also wild horses in The Sims 3. you can usually find them near water. Wild horses are easily scared, and can run away from you when you try to interacting with them. but if you befriend them and add them to the family.

foal. Temperament skill is build by interacting with the horse.
Agility is built by practicing on the barrels, and just going in circles. you can practice at a slower pace, or race barrels. You can also ask the horse to practice on their own. The Jumping skill is built by jumping on the obstacles.
Endurance is built by going for rides with your horse. Like in the Sims 3 you can enter a competition at the Equestrian Centre. The four regular competitions all cost the same to enter, and have same rewards for each level of competition. each victory also comes with a decorative plaque. Each Competition Checks At Least Two Skill requirement, And Your Rider Level. the higher each skill in relation to the requirement, the more likely it is that you'll win. As you compete, more and more competitions will be available. The Ultimate Horse Championship has the highest Entry Fee, Skill requirements, Rider Level and of course Highest Prizes.
In the Sims 4, you can make a unicorn by putting a horn on your horse's head. Unicorns are no longer special magical creatures. they don't have special powers Unicorns are just regular horses. They just sparkle.
Unlike The Sims 3, Children can ride horses in The Sims 4, and toddlers can babble with the horse.

God… it feels like we just got ripped off. No special creatures/NPCs once again. They did that with the pets pack - or, my bad, “cats and dogs” pack… Ah, I’ve just realised that we’re comparing Sims 4 horses that are a whole pack of their own and Sims 3 horses that were only a fraction of the Pets pack and Sims 3 is so much more detailed and thought-through 💀…

I actually used to do that a lot in my ts3 playthroughs as a kid. With ts3 ambitions, you can set explosives and detonate most objects, so with my play, I was playing as a crazy, evil inventor that was also a kleptoman. He'd first steal some objects from the lot, detonate everything to take the parts and use them for his experiments, and then with help from his unicorn friend, he'd set everything on fire for good measure. Sometimes I'd also take a miner and make holes all over the ground just to ruin the place a little bit more. One time I made myself a challenge to ruin every single lot on the map like this ;D. So much fun.

I am done with Sims 4 for over a year and went back to sims 3. It is running better and I have much more content. All things Sims 4 claimed to have when it came out. It is really a shame, because I really felt in love with the art style of Sims 4 over the years. It is time for EA to stop the cash grab and let their developers fix the game. They are ruining Sims 5 right now by that and the time will come when even the Sims-Community won´t take it anymore. You still have time EA

Switched from the Sims 4 to the Sims 3 since 2020 and that’s the best decision concerning the Sims I’ve ever made. The sims 3 is so goated that even in my third year of replaying it I still keep on discovering new things, I don’t see myself going back to the sims 4 anytime soon.

If Sims 4 horses was just combined with Cats and Dogs I wouldn't have a problem. But it's not worth paying £40 for a single animal, and some goats (that are objects). Sims 3 for me 😊

Less issues with them going in of their own accord moreso the fact that the game doesn't care if your home is a realistic height for them to enter. It just serves as one more way that the Sims 4 lacks attention to detail.

I legit built a massive 3 lot ranch on one of my Sim 4 saves, home lot was basically just the house and a barn/stable (also had a pool cus seasons Be Mean), one medium sized lot to make a Farm/garden and then the biggest lot as a giant race track and jumping course. it was at the end of a culdesac at the edge of one of the towns (Think it was Dragon valley?) and man that was a fun save. Real glad I never got around to getting 4 though. you buggers got scammed HARD, especially in the Unicorn department. Fairy + unicorn = best farmer combo. those crops will live forever and never need to be upgraded. Horses in 3 do react to music players though, from what Ive seen outside of the horses being their own sims with more complex needs, 4 horses are 3 horses Lite.

Just to remind you, Sims 3 didn't have a horse pack. All this horse content AND magical unicorns was paired with cats, dogs, and other small pets, But just wait and reserve ANOTHER $40 to the side and maybe unicorns will be more than a horn decorative item.

What the heck, it's practically Sims 3 horses in Sims 4 graphic, which in this case doesn't look even look that good. And for the pack with (just) horses, they put some goats, but didn't bother to include wild horses or unicorns, just add a silly sparkling horn and call it a day.

I have a lot of terrible, rude, disgusting things to say about EA, I wont say it but eventually people will stop buying this effortless/ambition-less crap and move to a different life simulation game, one that ACTUALLY CARES about their players and not money. I love the sims I do but I can't afford 40 dollars for an expansion pack that's suppose be even better than sims 3 horses as they are charging more and separated it from cats and dogs, but isn't. I feel like the sims 4 is EA's side project that they no longer care about customer satisfaction as they know people will still buy the game even if its overpriced...

Aside gameplay, horses in ts4 look so damn ugly. They look like those rubber animal toy figurines in dollar store. Some of the horse's snouts remind me of bugs in ts4, 11:48 for instance. Just those huge, black and shiny eyes look kind of like some bugs :/.
