Sims 4 Color Theory: What does your favorite color mean?

I loved this video so much - thank you for your amazing interior tips! Purple is my favorite color, but is the hardest to find and the most difficult to make work. Now I understand that it can work for certain scenarios. I was so excited when you mentioned that we could make our own gallery art, so I looked up how to do it and realized that you need Sims 4 Legacy game, which EA discontinued about 3 years ago so you can no longer make gallery art. But you may be able to find some in the gallery, still. I hope they come up with a way for us to do that, again!

This is a really intresting topic. I never tought much about what colour I use because I gave every family I play their "family colours" and when I build their houses I default to them (even tought I see how doing all the house with the same colour palette might make it boring and led to some... bold choice). Usually when I'm not building a house for a specific family I use cold colours for the bedrooms (usually light blue) and cold ones for the living room/dining room. Bathrooms use always a blue and white combo (unless I want to be bold and do a grey room), and the kitchen is always white with a black and white floor pattern. I never use brown as main colour, I include it only when I'm doing interiors that use wooden forniture or wood is included flooring or as wall panels. IDK why but brown make me sad.

Thank you! ❤ your color choices are influenced by your emotions, culture and experiences whether positive or negative. As your personal preference, it's not a crime to use dark blue in a living room, but they do evoke some form of emotion with outsiders who come to visit. Which is also kind of why most hotels have boring neutral, earthly palettes. If brown makes you sad or bored, that's absolutely valid! I know a dominant black or red makes some people happy, but red just makes me feel angry 😅 I guess what I'm trying to say is, it really depends on you, and color psychology is all just a theory that will help you make the best choices in design

I love green living rooms, but can never find the perfect green walls 😭 I miss the CAS & colour wheel from TS3, I used to write down the HEX codes of my favourite colours to use 🥹 TS4 is lacking in many many things, and I think way up on the list is how limited our wallpaper options are in style - like I’d love zebra and cow swatches for everything, but especially the walls 🥹

@@paszerine I don’t understand why they keep refusing to implement it :/ People have been complaining for years about the swatches not matching at all, and about being stuck with the limited designs. I was very hopeful the High School pack would bring some gorgeous wall swatches :(

All my favourite colours are in the cool half, and warm colours generally put me off slightly except red, i also like wood tones.

I'm not gonna lie I hate orange so much but it's probably the most overused colour in my game, especially when I'm decorating a room for cheerful Sims

I think orange can be ok if not overused. It's a nice accent and has a lot of warmth. It can be toned down with a bit of blue :)
