I think Bonehilda was added mostly for fanservice. That’s why she dances in a ridiculous way all the time and behaves rather flirty. You can even Woohoo with her. Moreover, it was shown in some reviews that if you open her in CAS and try to change her outfit, she will become a regular red-haired sim. It’s unknown whether it was an oversight or an attempt to make some easter egg, but this fact speaks for itself.

@@paigegguy I think theres a distinction between bonehilda and the batuu "aliens". The grim reaper and Patchy the skeleton are the same as bonehilda, if you put them in CAS and take away their outfit they become a regular sim. But you can't find the grim reaper outfit (or the bonehilda outfit) in CAS or put it on any sim. You CAN find all the alien costumes from Batuu in CAS and put them on any sim.

You couldn't just like take a normal sim and put the outfit on and she would be bonehilda because shes programmed to do certain things. So its not at all like the trainwreck that was batuu.

In the sims 1, I don’t think you could take sims into create a sim after you finished creating your sims, so I’m not sure but In the sims 3 if you took Bonehilda into create a sim and removed her outfit, she would revert into a regular sim and the same thing happened if she bathed or got electrocuted. So this isn’t new to 4, this is how it was before. Plus, you can’t put on a skeleton skin into your sim, so it isn’t the same. I do agree that Bonehilda should’ve operated properly instead of acting like a house guest, but what you’re criticizing here isn’t a sims 4 specific thing.

Also, the haunted house hasn't killed my Sim either. I don't know why Death From Fear wasn't added because I had my Sim at +6 Terrified and all it does is cancels the queue actions. In my opinion that should be a death at that point. I doubt there's a new death with this pack.

they said several times during the livestream that they had “extra time” on this pack which lead to more clutter items and extra of the small detail stuff overall. makes you think about how much crunch they might usually be under. not defending the lackluster content and inflated prices of most of the sims 4, but at least for me it reframed my perspective on exactly where the problems with the franchise are coming from, and how much of the blame truly belongs at the feet of the sims team/how much of it is lack of vision on their part. 🤔

@dr103 Imagine if they added the little specters to the haunted lot trait we already have, I get why the haunted stages are locked into a lot type so I wouldn't expect the things that happen on that lot to appear do to a simple lot trait, but if they at least allowed the little balloons to appear on any lot with the haunted lot trait to scare/kill a sim and leave gifts/tricks for sims, then players could have created things like a haunted hospital, restaurant or parks. Having one location like a graveyard being rumored to be haunted and having kids/teens do a courage challenge, or be dared to enter said location, or if you don't mind some fantasy in your game, placing a revival potion deep inside the tomb that only sims crazy or desperate enough to enter for the slim chance of seeing a dead love one again would add more than weeks of entertainment really. But since it is only attached to residential lots I am not sure how far the game will let players go with it. I haven't seen anyone pick that lot and just create a cemetery instead of a home so I'm not really sure if players can try to sort of cheat a little to make a haunted park, or haunted shrine, etc. Although I think it might be possible.

I’m waiting for someone to mod the game so that when it thunderstorms or heavy winds the lights will start to flicker and or go out. Then we would have to wait a few hours for them to come back on. That would be pretty dope!

My only worry about the grim reaper career is that it would be like the detective career, where the sims that you lock up one second are just going about their life normally the minute your work day is up. That would be even more jarring when your job is to claim the dead. Since it’s freelance and sims aren’t literally dying every second, I think that logistic issue would definitely exist.

Would've been cool if they made the haunting start based off of bringing a haunted item into the house rather than just a lot type. Such as giving collectables a chance of being haunted. So as long as you keep that collectable on display, things would start occurring. And then if you wanted to end it, you would have to smash to collectable. The way it currently is, I'm pretty sure Ill play with a haunted house once, and then never touch that lot type again.

So she is most likely trans, and that MIGHT explain that behavior. But it's still pretty weird that she would do that unless she isn't fully transitioned, maybe?

This pack isn't a godsend, however considering that it's a stuff pack and not a game pack, it's not that bad. They could've easily made this a game pack and charged us $20 for this. My first medium was a vampire. I got my levels up and tried the "invoke the dead" at the séance table. The fire specters turned up and set the vampire's coffin on fire, then the vampire himself. Vamp was terrified and unable to do much. Luckily, his roommate extinguished the fire and all I had to do to fix the situation was buy a new coffin, clean the floor and have the vampire take a shower. The vamp is now an investigator and Temperance keeps showing up on level 3 hauntings. Bonehilda is summoned and kicks her but. So far, so fun!

@@anomalytenacious Good question - I wish i knew for sure. All I can really say is that my non-vampire medium becomes extremely afraid and might as well be paralyzed with fear. Also energy drain is really bad when I am out on a gig with my "human" medium. These factors could possibly make it easier to die. Not sure.

The STUFF part of this pack was honestly really great. I love the clothing and objects that come with the packs. To be honest I thought Spa Day and Dine Out should’ve been stuff packs and almost all of the other stuff packs could’ve very easily been assimilated into EPs released in proximtiy (ie Bowling/Movie Hangout in City Living, Cool Kitchen in Get Together, Laundry in Cats and Dogs, Nifty Knitting/Tiny Living in Eco Lifestyle, Spooky in Seasons, etc.). I think that this is exactly what a stuff pack should be, if you’re going to charge $10 it needs some good gameplay to grasp your attention.

If you seriously want an answer on your questions: of course it is not weird to buy it only for the build/buy, most older stuff packs were even only worth buying if you liked the build/buy and cas because there was almost no gameplay in those. And some people spend this money on Starbucks each day, so why not spent it on this if you can and want it. :)

Just some extra points, I think you can collect the specters in a jar when you are in a gig, and you can rename them too, and I also think you can get fun when at the seance table but sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't work. There is also a mod that adds the Brave reward trait in the actual CAS trait selections, it is made by Chingyu1023 I think, Great video as always!

Really good and detailed review! I haven’t played much with it because I’m playing my legacy at the moment and it doesn’t fit into my current generation! Side note: I think I might be the only person that likes the reward trait store? I genuinely love buying additional traits over time for my sims which starts to further differentiate my sims from each other. Some sims need to sleep less, some sims naturally make better art, some sims love the heat whilst some are u affected by the cold. It really helps me build up additional personality over time. I like to think of it as this - if I have a sim that wants to go skiing a lot, I’ll save up and get them the trait which means they aren’t affected by cold temperature, and I see that as them acclimatising to colder regions. I like the brave trait being reward trait as well because of a similar argument - as you go through life and exposed to more things you’re building up bravery and then you get that benefit later once you buy it. Particularly combined with the fact living in a haunted house awards satisfaction points, the longer you’re their the more used to it and the more unaffected you are by things. Overall a solid pack for the Sims and I hope this is a sign of more things to come. Maybe we will finally get a Generations pack and it will have been worth the wait if the quality is now this high!

Technically for the sims 3 ghost hunting wasn’t a part of the supernatural pack, it was included with Ambitions. I’m ok with them splitting things like supernatural into game and stuff packs as long as it worth the asking price because expansions always try to give incentive for all players to buy it and not everyone likes that sort of gameplay.

Lol they got you by the sack that's how they milk people like never before while doing less work than ever before. Who cares if we or whoever doesn't like a certain part of a pack, then they just won't play with it. I never used the Genie in Super Natural, but that doesn't mean I want it to be a whole different game pack when it should all be one like it was for 3! It's about having everything in one pack, at one price. You end up paying more and getting even less content too with these Sims 4 packs. It just gets me frustrated I can't help but be upset cause I really feel the packs aren't worth buying, meanwhile I have almost every Sims 3 pack paid for, with no regrets. I always regret buying a Sims 4 pack because it's over so quickly basically lol. Sims 3 has tons of replayability. Sorry if I'm coming off crude!

However this as a stuff pack is pretty good for the price (a first for the sims 4 tbh) when compared to the sims 2 and 3 stuff packs as it actually incorporates gameplay features as well as build/buy mode items.

You can offer specters homemade gifts to appease them, so food, paintings, etc. You can also offer parts of your soul, which reduces your Sim's lifespan, so there are consequences there. Which is super cool!

I installed it yesterday, went through built/buy descriptions, did not play yet, but im here for that sort of gameplay. One thing I found strange about one description, is on the coffee table... I think they mentionned that there is something carved/written under the table if I remember? I have to check again, but I would be curious if its not a hint to a pack, and if there is really something under it.

I know it's a little too late and it's only a stuff pack but I someone that believes in guardian angels and ancestores on the other side watching over me it would be really fun you can have your elderly sims become your guardian angel and they can send you little notifications every once in a while to make sure you're okay

They made the Bravery trait a reward store item because you can only choose up to 3 traits in CAS, and they wanted every sim to be able to have the brave trait.

Thank you for this deep dive into the pack. I think we have similar views on the game and therefore I appreciate your view and opinions on it. I did get this pack and stayed up long hours playing it. I can see how it will become repetitive soon, but for the first time around it's really cool with all the new spooky sounds! I enjoy all the cas and b/b items so much! I love the modern couch and chair especially, see myself getting a lot of use out of those. I do wish they would add more images to paintings since we don't get those often. Would have been nice to have like 10 different images of paranormal-ish things instead of the same image with different frames. Maybe images of a crow, a creepy house, the doll etc. I think that the house from Doctor Ashley helped to sell this pack too. She did such a great job on it and the player was able to jump right in and be instantly submerged in the fantasy world of the Paranormal. Overall, for $10 it was worth it. I think EA is better at making these smaller packs than they are at making some of the larger packs. We give them a break for the smaller packs.

I luckily haven't had those issues with Bonehilda! In my play was she cleaning dishes, cleaning up after the cat, doing the like cleaning bottle animationm. She was constantly dropping food and drinks that she make . But she also dances a lot and is like always flirty. I'm pretty happy with her

No, you don't have to do that. That's only if you set the lot type to haunted house and use the seance table. You can just use the B/B and CAS stuff without the paranormal gameplay part if you want.

I'm really liking the pack so far, but I am wondering something. Is anyone else having their Bonehilda and Guidry show up with different names? My Bonehilda and Guidry show up in person and in my contacts as different names and Guidry doesn't even look like Guidry, he's a completely different person wearing the Guidry clothes minus the hat. He shows up as Carson Reynolds and Bonehilda's name is Aspen Lightly.

I got the pack and have played. You're right about emotions not working (I don't have that mod you mentioned so it's vanilla for me). I actually reinstalled The Sims 4 to play this. - It does have some nice clutter and furniture (setting appropriate) and reminds me of the gypsy in the Sims 3. - Guidry is a nuisance but not as much of a nuisance as typical ghosts. He's always flirty (with only one exception: Temperance. He's tense when she's around). At least he doesn't break anything and does more housework than Bonehilda. (This is the only reason I keep him around instead of using the hand statue to get rid of him.) - Speaking of Bonehilda, tits on a bull are more useful than she is. She doesn't fight ghosts, ignores Temperance, doesn't do housework. All she seems to do is dance. She's constantly flirty (at least I have yet to see her with a different emotion). I can only imagine that she is comic relief. - New animations for dealing with cursed objects would've been nice. Gnome-kick for everything was a let down. - New sounds are very good. Even the creepy children singing when the doll appears was a nice touch. - Freelancer career thankfully has the option to opt out of going. This was a blessing because after I completed a couple of gigs, it got to the point where I'd rather rip out my own teeth with a pair of pliers and a soldering iron before going on another gig. - The same animation for every seance sucks. It would've been nice to see different animations depending on what seance you're doing. (But let's be honest, they would rather reuse an animation for a 100 different things before creating something new and interesting.) - You do get a slight increase in skilling up the Medium skill if you're also a spellcaster. That was a nice touch too. - Can't make up my mind about how I feel about the new Haunted House Residential lot type or if I would've rathered it just use the existing lot trait system. I'm guessing the latter isn't robust enough for everything they wanted to do. - All-in-all, not a horrible stuff pack. Got more than expected but less than I hoped for. I do wish this was a game pack with more attention paid to interactions, animations, and the -ghost buster- paranormal investigator career (and not a freelancer career).

I really like the pack and I also agree that it's worth the price. There is one thing, that I noticed is different in your playthrough: It's the behaviour of Bonehilda. In my game, she actually cleaned up and took out the trash. She was not around for long, but she at least did her job. Also I played with 2 vampires and 1 spellcaster in the haunted house and it turned out, that my 2 vampires developed a negative relationship with Bonehilda and she was completely angry during her visit. This was probably because one of the vampires is hissing, but it was fun to watch. ^^

Looks like one of the most well-made packs yet! I think this pack had potential to be a game pack. I like to imagine the paranormal career would have two branches: a medium branch, in which the Sim would work a lot like this pack does, and a ghost hunter branch, in which your Sim would rely on technology to get rid of ghosts. Also would be cool if the hauntings could be tied to objects like collectables. Like any objects you collected, got as a present, or were left behind by deceased Sims who died non natural deaths, would have a chance of haunting your lot. Hauntings could have an element of danger too. Making certain objects dangerous to interact with (prone to cause fires or electric shocks) and maybe even possessing other Sims to attack or trap your Sims, though this one would probably increase the age rating for the game.

I have not purchased/played with the new pack. But after the update, I started playing the Strangerville aspiration and put my Sim on a lot that had a fault-line /earthquake feature. My Sim experienced earthquakes/tremors and the screen image shook around. I don't recall this happening before. Naturally, my Sim was scared, so I finished the aspiration and a couple of other aspirations and got the 8,000 points to purchase the Bravery trait, which didn't really resolve my Sim's fear of earthquakes.

BTW, you actually can catch specters in a jar, and there are more than just two types of specters. At least I've seen two more: blue one and yellow one in glasses And there is a type of food, which specters leave, and when you eat those you get moodlet about getting someone else's memory and you may gain a couple of points of some random skill, which in my opinion is great

23:41 - 23:53 I feel like a good fix for this idea if kept as is, have the Reward Point Only Traits be replaced by maybe like a "Add Trait Slot" reward while letting those Traits be options at the start (not sure about weird ones like "Mentor", maybe have that be unlocked as a passive bonus Trait, granted in my head this is also if there are a lot more Trait slots than just 4 options total (3 you choose and 1 that's only a bonus added depending on the first aspiration)).

My family was too poor too buy a seánce table at the start and without it the spirits got pretty angry, I had so many creepy hands/vines/dolls etc appear and my sims were terrified basically 24/7 which made caring for them a bit hard. I thought it was fun tbh :) Also didnt use the sacred candles because it does help with the creepy things or rather lessens the frequency in which they appear.
