And even then, only Durant broke it, it's insane. Also, KD was 87 OVR his rookie season, so not just former great players duplicated, former great players starting at 19 with inflated overalls, its untouchable.
@lexsea
@lexsea Жыл бұрын
and the person who broke it is KD with inflated stats lol which is even crazier. realistically he doesn't have the health to even come close to the record. health will be the biggest factor in breaking it and most players with the talent to score at the highest level don't have that. this record is gonna take like 60+ years to break
@ericburton1244
@ericburton1244 Жыл бұрын
@@lexsea i don’t think this one will get broke, actually. I don’t see someone having a better and longer and healthier career than Lebron has had. And it’s not even over with. His record is going to keep going up. By the time he retires, that record is going to be even harder to break. Jordan didn’t come close to 40k. Kobe didn’t come close to 40k. Lebrons record will actually probably be more like 43k, 44k, 45k by the time he retires. We know he’s going to at least play one season with Bronny before he quits… That record is untouchable. You gotta have the career, the longevity, the health, the scoring ability, durability, MORE than LEBRON to beat that record. PLUS he came in straight out of high school - which you cant even DO anymore. That record’s untouchable.

If u divide by 75 games because u not gonna play 82 games for 18-19y,, it's exactly 20 seasons..... U have to BE a top 5 player in the league for 20y with no injuries.... If LeBron drops 41k points like he (almost) did here, a player would have to average 29 ppg and 70 games a season for 20 years to break his record. Bron's ppg record is untouchable unless the rules change. Players have been leading the league with 30-35 ppg since the 70s and I don't think that's going to change.

Even with player being able to score more often, the likelihood of them staying healthy and able able to score at least 20 ppg after 35 is so unlikely. That’s the major difference between anyone that will ever play. LeBron is still playing at a way higher level at 38 than some at 30. Plus LeBron is just abnormal, his all round skill set has allowed him to score and do everything for so long.

It'll get broken (probably by a few people) because the league has changed scoring wise. The year Kobe averaged 35 points would be the equivalent of someone averaging 42 points during this season (based on averaged scoring by teams). So just think about how FREAKISH it was for him to average that many points 15 years ago, whereas now people average 30+ all the time. The league used to have stupid high scoring prior to Kobe's era, but that was before good medicine and sports tech was there, so players careers weren't nearly as long (unless you were a freak like Kareem). So just given the fact that the league has continued to get more talented, quicker, faster shot clocks (think about 14 seconds on offensive rebounds), more 3 point shooting, and sadly MUCH softer (you aren't allowed to play defense), people will rack up insane scoring numbers.
@uhubby8218

I’m an arkansas student and nick smith has got to be one of the biggest disappointments and it’s not even his fault. Between injury and Rich Paul holding him from playing games, the fans have not been happy with him. And when he does play, he seems to have a target on his back which leads to him having some really bad games statistically. I think he will be alright pro but he seems to be made of glass.
