Simulink vs XCos PID Block Differences

Well anytime we apply a step to a derivative, there is trouble because of unbounded output at the discontinuity. Sims may break. XCOS uses a discrete derivative (u(t)-u(t-h))/h to implement PID. It will break in s domain too but matlab cleverly adds a low-pass filter 100/(s+100) in front of the derivative which smooths the step and bounds the derivative. It works in XCOS if you add a similar LPF in front of PID. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the video and nice comparison, but this doesn't prove that the XCOS PID block is broken, instead it shows that XCOS PID block uses a different model internally (the Ideal PID model without filter), such as SIMULINK used to do in previous versions before the implementation of the new filtered PID block.

Firstly thank you. I want to learn matlab simulink but it is expensive. So I decided to learn Xcos. This video was made in 2019. What do you think Xcos improve itself or still same ?

It's totally possible but unfortunately I stopped teaching controls last year and have not looked into it.

I have a homework and I have to use simulink but I dont have matlab simulink licence. I researched simulink alternatives and I found scilab. I use ubuntu . I downloaded scilab on my ubuntu. But just open in terminal. İt s not open itself program. I have to use simulink of scilab. But terminal does not open simulink blocks. What can I do? Can you help me

I think I downloaded scilab directly to my computer. I then navigated to the bin directory and and ran the program xcos using ./xcos Hope that helps.
