WHY - WHY do people put up examples using z instead of another letter that doesn't require them to put an extra line through it to distinguish it from the number 2 ? And yet- they put a line through the seven that doesn't even need it? It's too easy to forget the line through the z which could be confused with a two. Or, the horizontal line could turn into a negative if it's written carelessly. Eliminate it all together- don't use the letter z. Less is more. 3x + 2y - c = 11 2x -3y + c = 7 5x + y - 2c = 12
