You guys are such a beautiful couple! My son had a basketball injury that led to addiction of smoking weed. Thank you for sharing your stories. He was shot and killed Oct 2020 because of this. Before he passed, he told me “mom, you need to have more faith”. He also wrote on a chalkboard in my kitchen, God is Greater. God has given me the most beautiful peace that surpasses all understanding.

I am so sorry for the lost of your precious son. Saying a prayer for you. I am glad you found some peace. So many stories of young athletes getting hurt and falling into addiction. I bet there are support groups out there for you, if you haven’t found one already.

@@lisamichelle2596 thank you so much for the kind words and prayers. I believe that only through Jesus would any parent survive the heartbreak of losing a child. God uses what the enemy meant for harm and turned it for good. Losing my son brought so many to Christ. The sacrifice is real. ❤️🙏🏼

This is so good! The lies of shame. In college I was the victim of a hidden camera scandal. After the hearing I felt so vulnerable and exposed that all I wanted to do was take back control over my own body. The control that had taken from me. I got in the car and drove four hours to my boyfriend’s college and did something that made me feel like i could take back control of my physical self. A few weeks later I found out I was pregnant. I couldn’t hide in my sin but I felt so much guilt so unworthy. I knew I needed to seek God so I walked into a new church. And unfortunately the judgement I received as a pregnant teen was not Christ like response. I believed it though, and spent my whole pregnancy ashamed and afraid to pray or seek his comfort or be in fellowship. I hated myself. A sweet neighbor brought over the book redeeming love. I wept my way through it. I realized my shame was a lie that the enemy had been relishing for the past 8 months. I immediately pled for Jesus to hold me and meet me and he was right there waiting all along. I name my son Daniel which means “God is my judge”. I learned how true romans 8:28 is. My son is 18 now. Last summer he was baptized. I love our story. I love our God. Thank you for this podcast. (Btw Daniel recently signed to play college ball ☺️🏀)

I can't imagine the pain that you have felt but God truly was with you the whole time. God is so Good! Thank you for sharing that story. It takes courage and I am sorry for the way people treated you when you needed fellowship, Jesus has really been working in me to reach out to those who feel full of shame and not judge them for their past. I pray that Jesus will use me to reach others and help people who have gone through similar things like this. This story spoke to me. Im praying for you! And Congrats to your son! May you know that Your identity is Christ and not your shame! your testimony will speak to others never be ashamed of it! God bless you

This podcast was so so good and so timely. Having been saved for 4 years now, I can really beat myself up over struggling with the same sins I was when I was living in the world. Thank you Grant and Madi for just highlighting that it starts with daily obedience, and freedom will follow. I'm believing God for freedom and am giving Him my yes daily in Jesus name!

Such a good podcast. The simplicity of the Gospel. The honesty in sharing your sin struggles and shame. Most importantly for the restoration in Jesus!! Currently walked through a dark valley in a place where God was calling me out on complacency and lukewarm faith made me even go as far as doubting my salvation. The enemy tried to keep me in the shame of “all the things I hadn’t been doing for the Lord” where Jesus was like “return to me and repent”! Still coming out the other side but only through God! Thanks for sharing!!!

God is using ya'll so much!!! This hits home for me and is my story with sin and shame and just last week, I was reading the book of John and Jesus saying to His disciples, if you love me, then you will obey my commands. I just started praying to God, saying I am sorry for not obeying you in the past with my sin and how shame has had me in chains for many years. Then right after I prayed, my devotional was, breaking the stronghold of shame and I found this podcast. God cares so much and wants us to live abundantly and let go of our shame. Thank you for starting this podcast and helping so many people with this topic especially! It really re iterated what God has been speaking to me and both of your words helped me sooo much! Love you guys so much!!

It is not about BEHAVING different it’s about BELIEVING differently. We must believe and have faith and that will bring us Joy to want to behave better to serve the Lord. It starts with Faith. Jesus died for your sins in your past and your future! If we want God’s grace we can accept that freely by having faith! Romans chapter 4 speaks a lot on it and about Abrahams life and how he was not declared righteous by his works but by his faith in the lord like what you spoke on Madi! Great podcast, loved every minute! ❤

The book of Matthew is what I read as well when I was at my lowest moment and asked God if he was real, but I was seriously desperate to know Jesus as he was my last and only hope. The Lord draws near when we have ears to hear.

Completely agree with this episode. I have experienced the feeling of shame after sin but God poured so much love nevertheless instead of judgment so I could quit my sin, praise God!

"day by day obedience" .... say even a little prayer right away when you sinned. don't let the enemy use what you did to block your relationship with God -- this in a form of guilt and shame, when God always promised grace and salvation.
