The difference is that in most bands, the drummer is stuck at the back, behind their kit - so you hear the sound, but usually don't see what goes into it. Sina's excellent camera work (including the amazing pedal split shots) shows us exactly the scary level of coordination that is needed to play drums at this level. Agree - it is a most excellent cover :)

Hi Sina. At the ripe old age of 63 I’m just over 3 months into it my lessons and am starting to play “highly” simplified versions of a few of your drum covers. You are by far the most talented, fun to watch, and inspiring drummer that I’ve seen on KZbin and you have impacted my life in such a positive way. One of Sina's best covers. She is the first drummer I've ever seen, and I've seen literally hundreds, who uses both a traditional grip and a "mirror" grip on her drumsticks depending on the song requirements. Very, very cool. WELL DONE, Sina!
@jim2lane Жыл бұрын
She didn't always use a traditional grip. If you look back at her first videos she started with a standard grip, but my understanding is that she began taking lessons a few years back from a professional percussionist and at that time started switching over to the traditional
@schuberttim Жыл бұрын
@@jim2lane The grip she is using in this video is what I was taught as the traditional grip. It comes from drummers using a sling to drum while marching according to what I've read. I never saw a "mirror" grip outside of Rock and Roll. Your comment is strange, because my point is that she uses both grips depending on the requirements of the song. If you watch old jazz footage, you will most likely never see a drummer using a "mirror" grip.
@jim2lane Жыл бұрын

If you say so. I can say I have never seen anyone who throws their index and middle finger out on the down stoke towards the drumhead either. I used to wonder what she was going to do with respect to drumming, but the answer is just to play covers. She has not made any real effort at becoming a professional musician. Even when she was younger, she did not do what a lot of her contemporaries would do and say enter the HLAG contest. I don't go on her channel very often as not much has changed. If I want to listen to rock music, I really have no interest in listening to her play covers. I have seen her and some of her friends perform and either I am not seeing what I see from other drummers her age. The best female drummer on the planet is Senri Kawaguchi who is about the same age as Sina, maybe, a year or two older. Senri has her own band, does concert tours and a number of drum clinics all over the world. Senri can play any genre of music she wants to but likes jazz and fusion and kind of gave up on rock and metal. Abagail Criesta is constantly touring with her band liliac and she is the same age as Sina. Kanade Sato has a band. A-yeon has a band. JUNNA has a band. Yoyoka Soma is currently on tour. Maybe, Sina doesn't like to travel. Just puzzling how she has put in so much time, but what is her ultimate goal with drumming? I would assume that it can't just be playing covers.

This is a bomb, Sina! The best drum rendition of this song ever, I think! By watching you play this thru with extra precision and care, incl. e.g. the muffling of the cymbals, and a steady groove is a hit to the bull’s eye. You make this piece much more interesting to see and hear than when usually. The drum part is actually quite rich and interesting, full of flavor! Also, you kind of save this piece, because at least here in Finland it’s a rock cliché to ask every other band to play this in their concert as if it was a joke, just like Free Bird (by Lynyrd S.) is demanded from every other band playing live. Sina, you are a gem and jewel and precious gift to everyone who likes to hear classic rock regenerated !!!

Dear Sina, again great stuff. You are playing full of positive energy, so you make a good song even better. 1970, when Black Sabbath brought our the song I was just five years old, so I do not have any memory to this. I heard it more often years later as a teenager, but afterwards no more, because I’m not really in this hard rock songs. So hearing your cover was quite a new experience to me - and a very good one, because of your playing. Thanks a lot. Vielen Dank. Peter

Of course I've seen many many many of your videos and I'm always astounded by them all! You're phenomenal! You nail this song so well! You're so tight, precise, powerful and your timing is phenomenal! This is a good song that demonstrates a little more simplicity in its basic beat BUT is so challenging to be tight, solid and accurate with this beat throughout. What many non drummers don't realize is that sometimes more basic type beats are harder to play because there's no room for error! You're out there exposing to all how good your timing and meter are! It's hard to play a consistent, non wavering, solid, steady beat - like a machine! This beat isn't all that simple but it is a bit more basic than a LOT of other songs you play and you clearly demonstrate how excellent your timing is here! Keep it going!!!

Very easy song to reproduce on drums… like so many others on this site… Any average drummer can do that… Still the same easy stuff than usual… Strange to see how opinions and critics can be overrated for that… Probably that the team Sina knows how to play the older people’s nostalgia to get this number of views…and the latter is sponsored for performing this kid stuff… So bizarre… There are so good drummers on youtube… hey! It’s not Dream Theater or Mahavichnu orchestra…, it is the 3 chords band Black Sabbath… nothing here to be excited about… Sina could try to play any song from Billy Cobham… I’m sorry if I hurt someone, it’s not my purpose, really …but it’s just amazing for me to read so good comments for this kind of so easy stuff… Sina found a good niche… outch! @@PierreBeaudoin it's maybe because the older vieuwers like the music of their youth, and like to watch a nice drummer at work wich has the same age as if the music was new. 🇫🇷

Sina, I've been watching you play for years, and i have to say, there is something very amazing about your focus and skills. I for one really enjoy each video i happen to catch. Please don't stop doing your "drum thing" no matter what other distractions come up in life... Keep Rocking!
