People don't understand how incredibly tough it is to be a clean comic with amazing material, witty improv skills and decades of longevity without being overly saturated and people getting tired of seeing you. Sinbad is a LEGEND and highly underrated!

Sinbad is rarely brought up when talking about the top comics in the world but he is criminally underrated and underappreciated. Dude has been working nonstop for close to 40 years. Still funny as hell and can work a crowd as well as anyone in the game.

Seen this guy in concert 4 times. He took relationship questions from the crowd for almost an hour at 2 of the shows. I have never seen another comedian make an entire set out of thin air on the spot the way this dude did. Every joke was hitting, absolute legend of the game. What a talent

Saw him live in the town I live in. He was working on material for new show. Really nice town but the venue is a little tough to find. His first 15 minutes were on his trip to, and how he found, the venue. I was crying! Just shows up and comes out with this…. Damn good!!

When that Michael Richards incident happened, Sinbad said “i was there that night and they weren’t heckling him. My whole act is based on crowd work. I work off the audience”. When you’re really good u can work off of any situation. Sinbad was very underrated. I hope he’s feelin better.

@@DeathsInverse that's sad if that's something more recent. I saw in him Maryland about 1.5 years ago. He did almost a 2hr set because he got lost and was about 30 minutes late to the venue. He was hilarious still. Seemed like 45 mins was crowd work. My cheeks were hurting from laughing that night.

He had a side act that stayed on stage with him and kind of gave him hints as to what he was supposed to do next in his act. He was still funny but you could definitely tell the other guy was there to help guide him. Maybe he was going through something when I saw him.

Sinbad is so underrated. In my opinion, he's the most naturally funny comedian. Most comedians have to write for hours and then spend a year doing the same jokes over and over on tour to make sure it's funny.

True. There’s comics that are just naturally funny. Then u have others that just says funny stuff and then there’s others that craft jokes, write, tweak, re-write etc. On a major tour though, i think its dangerous to “wing it”. U should have some solid material. Sinbad and Chris Rock are very funny but very different. Rock comes off more like he worked his material, tweaked it, went from club to club. Sinbad looks like he has a sketch of ideas and goes onstage and talks.

@@jbazley001 I never noticed either until I sat down to watch an episode of Bad Boys of a Comedy in my 20s (we were too broke for cable so I never saw Def Comedy Jam) and every comedian, EVERY ONE, peppered their act with extraneous cursing and the n-word. Even comics I'd known to be somewhat clean just stuck a "NイガガA" in between jokes for no reason! I don't mind so-called bad language or even a smart use of that word but too many Black comedians use that language, and that word, as a crutch.

You still hear people talk about George Carlin and Richard Pryor and a lot of those guys from previous generations regularly. But, for whatever reason, Sinbad doesn't get that level of current discussion. So, unfortunately, I think underrated as a fair comment.. Even though hes extraordinarily successful.

Can we talk about...how Sinbad is part of the legacy of Bill Cosby. Had him on the Cosby Show as the car salesman, helped to get him cast as Walter on A Different World, and might be the most notable Black comedian that emulated his profanity free, family friendly style of comedy. Not minimizing or condoning the horrible stuff he did, just pointing out that legacies aren't easily erased.

Never forget he was doing a TV special.. HE WAS IMITATING THE R&B GROU..THE CHILITES. THE MOVES. THE EXAGGERATIONS, THE MOVES. I NEARLY PASSED OUT. I LITERALLY COULDNT CATCH MY BREATH. FAMILY IS THERE, KIDS ERRBODY. BOUT PISSED OURSELCES. LIFE WAS GOOD.
