I experienced the movie almost 30 years ago but I do not believe that it wad ever made in this reality. The Mandela Effect is an incredible phenomenon that has caused me to share 700 plus memories of things I knew most of my life with millions of others of things that don't match reality.

Millions of people remembering a movie that was never made makes no sense. Why would they all mix up the same 3 movies. After the pool party at the end, Sinbad is sitting down watching his own comedy show on TV and turns to the camera and says this guy is good or something to that affect. He then winks at the camera and the movie ends. I do not believe that it was made in this reality but I experienced it. You say it all gets confusing yet I recall wondering why Shaq was making a Genie movie called Kazaam in 1996 when Sinbad had just made one a couple of years earlier called Shazaam.

So, what's your take on what you think happened here?

@@letsscream I believe that it is part of the Mandela Effect. I have made over 1,000 videos and done over 15k hours of research into this incredible phenomenon. There are many theories and most are on the table for me but I am sure something has happened or is happening. Mass misremembering makes no sense after all my research. There are 10s of thousands of pieces of evidence that we call reality residue in the community here on KZbin which prove for me atleast that things were different. My best explanation is some kind of merging of timelines. I was making videos in 2011 about a coming shift in human consciousness on my channel and in 2016 when I was hit by this phenomenon like a ton of bricks I initially felt like my consciousness had shifted to somewhere else where things were slightly different. I have been working on a documentary film for the past two years with Doc film maker Robert Kiviat and it will be released soon. There are interviews with him on my channel.

I saw it too! I remember the part where Sinbad puts a candy bar in the pool to get everyone out of it at the pool party. So funny!

I watched shazam as a kid. I remember kazam came out around the same time with shaq. I never watched kazam, house guest, first kid, or any of the other movies mentioned except for jingle all the way. Shazam had really bad writing and the story was super generic. Thats why no one can remember it. Sinbad was a genie. There were two siblings a young boy and his older sister. There was only a single father in the movie. The mom was dead and shazam explains to the kids how he cant bring the dead back to life. Im pretty sure I remember the boy wishing for more wishes. The boy gets picked on at school or is bullied. Shazam was a lot like the genie in aladdin. He made jokes like genie and im pretty sure the kids wish for him to be free at the end. Idk why sinbad denies the movie it wasnt horrible. Just a very basic kid movie. Sinbad was the best part of the movie as the genie. Maybe disney sued them and got it removed from the internet. I know it was real.

what do people in South Africa think about "the Mandela effect". the experience of thinking this Mandela was dead would seem to have more impact from people who would have a closer connection to him. if they do not, id imagine people try to explain this as a "regional" effect???

I'm a genX'r, and was in my 30's at that time. I 100% remember seeing the movie posters for Shazaam at our local tape store and Blockbuster. It existed. As others mentioned, I also thought it was odd when the Shaq movie came out shortly after. Not sure how to explain any of it, but something definitely changed.

I've never watched the Shazaam movie, but I used to work at a grocery store in Pittsburgh in the mid to late 1990s and the grocery store had a video rental sections, everyday when my shift ended I'd go into the video rental section of the store to see if there was anything I wanted to rent for the evening, and everyday I went into the video section I seen the poster for Shazzam. I wasn't mistaking Shazaam for Kazaam, despite being a fan of Sinbad every time I seen that movie poster in the video rental section of the grocery store worked at all I could think is, "this is a cash-grab ripoff of Kazaam." I have a friend who has an interesting theory about Mandela Effects. My friend used to drive a taxi years ago and he was on his way to pick up a fare from the airport, while on his way to the airport his taxi was boxed in on the highway, and he was in the blind spot of a semi truck. The semi truck started to move into his lane and he was boxed in and couldn't move out of the way, he remember seeing the windshield of his taxi shatter and tasting blood in his mouth, he knew he was dead, then a moment later he found himself and his taxi safely ahead of the semi truck with no damage to himself or the taxi. My friend believes what happened was he did have that accident and he died in that universe, but he believes it wasn't his time to die yet, so he believes his soul / spirit / consciousness was transferred to another universe that is as similar to the universe that he had died in but one where he hadn't died. For myself I do have sleep apnea, so it's possible that I'd died in my sleep in a universe where the Shazaam movie existed but it wasn't my time to die, so I woke up in a universe as similar to my original universe as possible with the one detail out of place that is the existence of the Shazaam movie.

Im tired of saying my piece on it. I believe in ME. Dont know how or why it happens, and dont care. I just know what i remember. With shazam, all my friends rented it and liked it. I dont remember it being in theaters. We all thought it was better than kazam. And kazam being so bad was how we all knew shaq fu would suck. Nowadays everyone else remembers being swindled by that game when in my memory it flopped from the start and we all knew better. I only remember also seeing sinbad in the secret service movie and jingle all the way, not house guest. Didnt have cable. But local tv stuff i did see. Didnt see goodburger. Didnt see milk money. I am weak with this one but plenty other ME i am concrete on. And for everyone to remember many of them but all in the same wrong way is all the proof i need to know its a thing. If people misremember because jumbled internet age, why the mass halucination of everyone remembering so close from opposite sides of the country. Thats as much a mathmatical imposinility as shazam having not existed because there's not a shred of proof. What makes it an ME is there is no proof. And i trust close to zero "residue" because photoshop is a thing.

@@letsscream I woulda been around 9. I remember talking with the lunch buddies in the cafeteria. I got the nes late so my parents didn't see why I'd need a snes so the game didn't matter for me personally. But no one else was even gonna rent shaq fu. Once the Nintendo power came out with a few screen shots I remember everyone saying someone should rent it so they could verify it was crap and no one would. And I had an easy out. No snes. No sega. Just looked it up, shaq fu was 94 and kazam was 96. So I dunno. Maybe we knew kazam would suck because shaq fu did. I vividly remember all the buddies trying to get someone else to rent it. And when I brought this up b4, I remember telling ppl that shazam was the good genie movie and kazam sucked, but everyone kept saying it wasn't that bad. I remember it being pretty bad.

This doesn't add up, though. So many people remember such a specific thing, and it's very unlikely that so many people had the same mixed up memory avout the same movie. Also, there is no way someone could confuse Shaq with Sinbad. That's like confusing The Rock with Kevin Hart.

Nee man.. Ik heb die film gezien als kind. En die film van Shaq is juist een soort van rip off van Shazaam.. Heb Shazaam zelfs meer dan 1 keer gezien maar kan me niet zoveel meer heugen. Maar k weet er was een jongen en meisje erin. En niet alleen dat later kwam er een soort van App en TV show Shazam. En k had altijd in mijn gedachten dat het ook afgeleid was van de film Shazaam. Dus net als een genie kon j wensen en dan ging het in vervulling. Netzo functioneerde die App ook. Je kan een paar lyrics van een liedje zingen en dan kon het dat lied voor je opzoeken. En dit was allemaal voordat ik zag dat die film van Sinbad nooit heeft bestaan. Vond en vind ik heel vreemd. Ben overal gaan zoeken op het net. Kan nergens een geverifieerd resultaat vinden. Ik weet ik ben NIET gek en kan ook zweren dat ik die film heb gezien. 😢
