Very much so, but somewhat more precise and reproducible, and it replaces the "bang with a hammer" with a smooth push. Because the press is pushing against its own base, it's probably also more suited to use on surfaces that the Lee Loader with hammer might damage - as well as being much quieter. Come to think of it, you could probably adapt one of these presses to Lee Loaders without much trouble.
