Excellent example and very clear explanation of both the principles of fabrication and use. Thanks

haus: Put the magnet into a plastic baggie before use. Makes cleaning a cinch.

Nice project. That is nice for lathes with a straight edge unfortunately mine is curved. Thanks for the video keep on keeping on.

You can always machine a flat on the side of the compound. You have to ensure the flat is parallel to the slide ways on the compound. Look at Alan's previous video to see how he did his.

Hi Mate. Is the compound not needed to be set to o° and proofed with indicator. Then the two points on sine bar is put against compound, and proofed to 0°. This ensurers there are no errors between sine bar and compound. Then a guage block etc, is used to set required angle and indicated.

Hi In my previous video I milled the compound slide face and checked that it was on Zero

Allan I don't have slip gauges can I use an end mill and then feeler guage to add up the space?

I would turn a steel bar to the required diameter about 15mm long and use that as a reference.

Nice tool, well designed. Showing the end result first would explain a bit what the work is for. It was a bit of a mystery. Why that costly, and unhealthy, WD40? For 55 years I've used what we say "white spirit", denatured(?). Nowdays red spirit is used. Costs a lot less and is not unhealthy.
