Nobody was more surprised than Sinéad when people liked her songs. She never wanted to be a career singer. She was first and foremost a PROTEST singer, in the same way that Martin Luther King was not a career politician. Sinéad never made a lot of money from her singing, certainly not the kind of money she could have earned. Although a lot older than Sinéad, I come from the same town in Ireland and lived nearby. Sinead released Nothing Compares to you in March 1990, the same time my mother passed after battling cancer. The lyric , all the flowers that you planted momma ..in the backyard, all died when you went away...really hits home. Sinead also said it reminded her of her mother when she sang the song. When l heard Sinead had passed, it felt like my heart being ripped from my chest, the connection with that song resonated through me like a tornado. Sinead was and always will be the bravest of souls...so sorely missed. Love her always.

I just lost my mama, it hurts so much, she was my favorite person ever…she did plant flowers last year, but she’s gone and she didn’t see the blooms, but then again, my mom made 2 new trees I planted bloom in March, when she died. I just planted them last year and she made them blooom all over, no leaves, but they were just loaded with blooms when we got home, they are filling with leaves, I told my mom I planted those trees & she somehow made them bloom. She was magnificent ❤
