This beautiful lady, sings from her heart & soul. The pain she has gone through in her life, poor girl. She talks honestly. I really can't see how people discard her. Her voice haunts you. Harri, not all songs are happy clappy. Sinead, I think you have to have been in agony & suffering to understand her. I sometimes think if her words make you uncomfortable then you need to look inside to see what's uncomfortable within.

I was there through all of this song, We were on tour when she miscarried about 2 weeks later she went into a studio in Canada and reorded this song, I couldn't believe she could lay her soul so bare, but that was her all over I was crying while she recorded this.

Thank you for reacting to this song and treating her and her music with all reverance due. I have carried her music with me for 30+ years. She has given me so much by sharing herself like few can. My heart breaks for her 💔

To transcend beyond the horror and pain and create this beautiful heartfelt piece of art... it clearly shows the urge to honor and protect her lost ones. I truly feel for Sinéad. I know there are many more who do.

I always choke up listening to that voice of hers. I love how you seem to understand her as an artist and as a person for many don’t, which is a shame. Her live acoustic version of Black Boys On Mopeds is highly recommended.

Please more Sinead! I highly recommend Black Boys on Mopeds, Last Day of Our Acquaintance, Fire on Babylon, John I Love You… (audio/album versions) so many great songs.. btw per Sinead’s recent memoir, Rememberings, (which is excellent and fascinating), she states this re: Three Babies… “about three miscarriages that I experienced. It is also about the four children I did have, though the song is perhaps a prophecy of not being the perfect mother. You have dreams of being a perfect mother to your kids, but maybe you don’t always turn out to be one (though you get better as you get older).” :)

You're completely right, "Rememberings" is a wonderful book and it makes you feel drawn to her, you really ought to read it Harri and anyone else interested in her. The three babies are the three miscarriages and to me, this song entwines them with her lost babies, her children, the men in her life and her mother who constantly haunts her. This is one of her three "death songs" but there is another one too. You'll find on the internet that many people who have lost a young baby also treasure the song, "My Darling Child." My wife listened to the album it appeared on, "Universal Mother" throughout her first pregnancy and when Olivia died, ten weeks after she was born, we had it played at her funeral service in the Catholic Church Mary had been brought up in. It hurts, twenty-five years later it still hurts and I still avoid listening to that song and the Kinks' "Days" because I don't like crying. I feel so sorry for Sinead at the loss of her youngest child Shane, who suffered from his own demons and hanged himself when he had disappeared from the hospital where he was on suicide watch. But God is good, even through the hard times. I'm glad that Harri picked up on the meaning of this. Sinead doesn't just write and perform these songs, she lives them. And sometimes you can hear them tearing you apart. The most important part of the video is when she blows the little paper ship across the pool to join the others which are already there.

I forgot to say, when you look at the photos of Shane, it's his mother's face that looks back at you.

Life of Sinead O'CONNER is a heart-breaking tale. Wish that something had prevented her premature death at age 56. In this day and age, 56 is quite a younger age to die. Unfortunately my father died at age 56----- he fell from a wooden ladder ---and died at a younger age of 56. GOD BLESS SINEAD O'CONNER AND GOD BLESS MY FATHER. I LOVE MY FATHER AND I LOVE SINEAD O'CONNER.

She was a giant of a soul. The Lilliputians tried to tie her and cut her down. Not anymore. This small soulful Irishwoman was a feminine firestorm. Will we ever see her like again? Peace and respect ☘️🇮🇪

It's so important to stop and acknowledge losses like this for both the mother and father. My mother had a few miscarriages. For one, my brother and I witnessed her being carted out of the house on a gurney. But we never really talked about it.

Coz she's a "working" mom. Was NOT willing to leave them. NO one can love her children like she does. She does not want to share them with some other mother. Are they safe? Are they warm? May they be returned to me. THANK you for sharing.

The story is she saw a young woman, obviously poor, in a store in the early morning with three babies strapped around her, shopping, and it was cold out. It just affected her. This song's been messing me up for decades now.

She went through hell and back had 4 kids one of them died last year. God help her she had aborted at times because of stress and harassment. Don't know if all of it adds up but I can say she was financially and physically taken advantaged of. That woman is brilliant. Love to you all. Xxx

I believe the song is about the time that she was being taking to the courts to be evaluated as a fit mother. She was in peril to loose the kids custody full time to their fathers or temporary families... Kinda the foster care system of Ireland.

I think it COULD be about abortions, although I don’t know if she had any. “I ask no other to be mother to these three…” Many women grieve abortions, even when they don’t regret them. It’s not done lightly.

Lot of sympathy for Sinead O'CONNER. She suffered a lot. She should not have suffered this way and that much. She reverted/converted to ISLAM ---- and ISLAM was not successful in relieving her suffering adequately. Was it a failure of ISLAM ?? ---- OR actually she failed ISLAM. SHE FAILED ??? OR.
