The storyline of Johnny and Nooshy is perhaps the most interesting in this film. A great idea was that the teacher Klaus brought Johnny to complexes (which you can understand Klaus, because in serious show business the path to fame lies through difficulties) and Johnny met Nooshy, who not only taught him how to dance, but also taught him to believe in himself. A very, very interesting detail, when Johnny defeats Klaus in the arena, the teacher bows to him, and then smiles. It's cute. This shows that Klaus is somewhat proud of Johnny, that he managed to show in his own way that he can dance. And this aroused respect even in such a seemingly callous heart of the teacher. This is well done, which came out not as "the young defeated the nasty old men", but as "the right motivation is able to overcome difficulties".

That's the only issue with Klaus. He's used to drilling professionally trained dancers at the highest level before being dumped with a completely inexperienced guy with no passion who doesn't seem to take it seriously. He then is offended by being replaced by some nobody and being proven that she can teach beginners better than him, his pride being undercut by the apparent improvement and Nooshy's mocking.

I was surprised when I reviewed the film again and saw in the very finale, when the whole team goes to perform at the new theater, Klaus hands Johnny and Nooshy their staffs. It's great that he stayed in the team.

Sing 2 is one of those rare cases were the squeal beats out the original. First one was a complete Liar revealed trope with just enough energy to keep you invested. Sequel felt less tropey and seemed a bit more coherent and fluid in it story

For me it didn’t seem like the original had much of a story, and the story it did have was random. His best friend is conveniently one of the biggest stars in the city, a random Russian mob comes out of nowhere, etc.

I personally liked the original bc we got a lot of extremely focused character work. I felt it when Ash broke down after her boyfriend cheated and Rosita lost herself dancing in the grocery store late at night. There's a unique emotional connection there I couldn't get enough of, and it helps that the big stars attached were surprisingly incredible singers (who knew Scar Jo could do THAT). I can see why it's not a common favorite though, the main plot thread was too simple and they added too many complications (I liked Seth McFarlane mouse but I also wanted that bear to kill him the whole time) Sing 2 really just added the cohesive plot elements that break through the Jukebox Musical stigma (it'll be bad bc it incorporates popular music of the day, blah blah blah)

And yet another amazing AMV! How do you just create these masterpieces with the perfect scenes to allign with the lyrics? This song was one of my favourites in the movie and I love how Johnny (Taron Egerton) sings it, his voice is just amazing!
