My current favorite period so I was glad to see this video and would love to see more FIW stuff. My guess would be the mini matches the Royal Roussilion regiment. It could also be the Languedoc regiement except for the blue collar. If you painted an anchor on the cartridge box it could pass as Compangie de la Marine in full uniform. Finding FIW minis in the US is a real pain. Everything has to be mail ordered from the UK. No manufacturer has a complete or comprehensive range of figures and you have to deal with differing ideas on how big a 28mm mini should be. The warlord/conquest minis are on the small end with redoubt and Galloping Major on the larger chunky side.

Thanks for the clarification! I admit I didn't do much research on this one, so glad I didn't make a complete mess of the uniform.

Love your vids and the info that comes with them too... just wondering if the video above (and its British counterpart you have done) would be applicable to the War of Spanish Succession (or Marlburian period as we sometimes call it in Britain). I ask because Warlord games have just released an Infantry of the Grand Alliance to round out their Spanish Succession range and I am going to be building two forces, mainly for Black Powder. The soldiers look great and are the most affordable way of getting a 28mm Black Powder force, and of course the conflict itself was full of colourful uniforms, flags and characters. Also, I know you get a lot of requests, but would you be able to post a tutorial on the Bavarian Infantry as they are often seen as the third main element in the conflict after France and Britain (though of course many other countries took part)... and/or a Cavalry unit from this period, and/or an Artillery unit (other than an anti-aircraft gun I don't think iv'e seen much artillery on here :) ) Thanks for any help and I look forwards to what comes next... an avid fan, CJ Linton :)

Unfortunately, from my understanding, the uniforms absolutely aren't the same, so you couldn't really use this for one of those. I will try to do a WSS figure at some point. 18th century really is my weak point, but I'll try.

I don't suppose you have any plans to paint a Native American from this period, do you? I'd be really interested to see how you approach the skin tones and body paint.

You do good work. Awesome stuff. I'd like to see how you paint up a miniature from the game Infinity by Corvus Belli. They have some really nice looking 28mm miniatures. Keep up the good work 😀

I have a model from Infinity, I agree their stuff is nice. I kind of planned to paint it just for myself off video though, because I can't do my best work on camera and I sort of want to 100% be able to enjoy the experience. :-)

Have you used off white and tan when painting white uniforms instead of gray? I have used the browns as white would gut dusty and dirty from every day usage.

I painted those exact same models. I don't think your disappointment reflects your skill. Their just tough to paint. Mine ended up correct but kinda ugly...

I've noticed on a lot of your videos your black base coat seems scratched on the edges. Is that purposeful, or just wear and tear of a model you base-coated a while ago?
@wssmagazine
@wssmagazine 8 жыл бұрын
Nope, not on purpose. It's just how I paint, I tend to rub off the base coat while I'm working. If you are more careful than me, it shouldn't be an issue.

Wargames, Soldiers and Strategy the first mix is 70% dark prusian blue 30% grey blue, and the secon mix is 50% dark prusian blue 50% grey blue no? And thanks for the answerd
@wssmagazine
@wssmagazine 7 жыл бұрын
That sounds about right, but I really don't think in such precise terms usually. I just put some paint in until it looks right. Add as much grey blue to the different highlights as you feel comfortable with. If it's not enough, you can always make another with more of the grey blue in it.
