Dr Dan explains the importance of developing and strengthening the upper register, or head voice, in addition to the lower register or chest voice. The upper register has a unique sound, quality, and feel and is essential for singers to achieve vocal balance.
He guides singers in identifying their upper register by demonstrating specific exercises for both men and women. To strengthen the upper register, he suggests using an /AH/ vowel and an exercise from Voice Essentials 1. D Dan emphasises patience and persistence, as the development of the upper register takes time and consistent practice.
