I read somewhere that otters are running amok in Singapore - going into homes, raiding koi fish ponds, attacking joggers etc. Is there any truth to this? Nice videos, thanks for posting.

There’s a bunch of smooth-coated otters moving around the city, moving through the canals. They are pretty friendly - never heard of any attacks or home invasions (though monkeys are know to do this) but they can raid ponds for fish, yes.

Some attacks yes, not too many. , but there has been a few. Just joggers that have accidentally ventured too close to their young.

Whether it’s otter or monkeys, it’s advised to keep a safe distance. Everybody has a sense of space around them, especially with strangers. And if it’s the wild, if you see a cub or younglings, never get close. Step away and observe. The mother may sense it as danger and will act upon you. Basically, don’t try to get close and pet them. They are not the next door pet dog or cat.
