Singlish is probably best explained as an ultra lazy, yet ultra efficient way of speaking English, with whatever words that has the least syllabus or whatever gets the point across. It evolved from our multi-racial society before everyone spoke English, so they all picked up some phrases to communicate between each other.. then they mix English with it and became as such. :)

By the way… ‘last time’ came from literal translation from Chinese dialects, as there’s no distinction for the words for a long time ago and the last time. It was easily understood by all races who spoke simple English… so became natural.

Excellent Video!!! Appreciate it so much. I have not been able to travel to Singapore since 2019. So, I appreciate your videos to keep myself squinted with this great county. What are some of your favorite Singapore dishes? When my wife and I travel to Singapore, our first stop is the Katong area for their Laksa. That has always been our favorite. I love Char Kway Teow so much. There is a hawker stall in Jurong (on Boon Lay Drive) that makes the best I have had in Singapore. Keep up the good work and stay safe! Have a great weekend!!!
