I always struggle when I'm around people and I usually need to go away after only a couple of hours. I do not know how or why Love Bonito invited you (epistemologically) for this trip, but I am so glad you were invited, and so glad I clicked on this video (at the end of my doom scrolling). Your love of life, your expression as you enjoyed the food, and your love for your mother (and your mother!) made this video exceedingly watchable. As a Singaporean, I am always gratified when visitors enjoy Singapore's food, and I love the uninhibited way you enjoyed (and did not like some of) the food. And I am so glad you brought your mother along. (Filial!) She seemed to enjoy the food too! Your sharing of your insecurities, vulnerabilities, and self-doubt was very relatable, and courageous, and real. I could feel your (social) exhaustion at 19:55. And if that was your closing scene, I would have felt sorry for you. But you closed with hope, and growth, and wonder, and your love for life. And that was just beautiful. I have watched some of the other videos of the guests of Love Bonito and I enjoyed watching them discover Singapore and the food, but I think I would be re-watching yours more, because i missed some of your "notes" or captions you included in the video. I'm probably one of the minority who doesn't know you before but I came across your shorts (the one with the Lotus Mcflurry) and clicked into this particular video because it mentioned Singapore. The food descriptions and energy you gave off were the factors that drew me to watching your video but I stayed for the thoughts that you shared. I echo your perception of your body and it's certainly something that I struggle with still, especially when nearly all of my friends are skinnier/smaller-sized than me. My best friend constantly tells me that clothes are meant to fit people, and not the other way around but sometimes, it's tough to adopt and practice that mindset when skinny girls and clothes that look way too small are everywhere, you know? Thank you for the empowerment and uplifting words that you've poured out into this video and on this journey of self love, may we all aim to be the very best version of ourselves in the size that we feel most comfortable in, not conforming to the world's standards but because we are perfectly and wonderfully made. The food in Singapore is diverse and amazing (yes I grew up there). The food in the heartland is where you find the history of Singapore. Many of the hawker stalls are decades old and all made the way they would feed their families. Even when you get stressed with the rat race you can find many green spaces to juice sit and chill out with your favorite drink or snack and just slow down. It is one of the prettiest places on earth.

Ily sm linda , I was sad and depressed all day and alittle mad at my best friend for smth thats probably all in my head I also had alittle body dysmorphia moment a week ago and started excersising and feeling guilty about food , but your videos assure me that its ok to eat and its ok to have anxiety and that life is about sm more than that so thank you trully ❤. I really enjoy your videos Linda and you’re super relatable. You SO deserve to be there. I just wanted to add about toxic Asian beauty ideals. I noticed Love Bonito (a Singaporean brand) only invited Asians that fit their beauty ideal. You see, Asians are a minority in the US but East Asians, the Chinese in particular, enjoy Chinese privilege in Singapore. Yeap, it’s a thing. Singapore has 4 official main races: Chinese, Indian, Malay and Eurasians. On paper, not one is above the rest. With Chinese being the majority, they are the beauty standard and they have lots of unfair privileges the other races don’t. This is why lots of people think Singapore is a Chinese country. While Love Bonito has been representing the different races in their adverts but influencer trips like these show me what they really think. Even in Crazy, Rich, Asians (my fave movie), did you notice any of the other races? Even though Singapore celebrates our multi racialism and the actual people as well as communities are diverse, the establishments still somehow aren’t comfortable with elevating Indians and Malays. Just spreading some awareness because I know Asian representation in the west is very poor and they may not be aware that the East has a problem too. Oh and of course, there is colourism within the Chinese community too. I thought I’d share this perspective but of course Linda, this is unrelated to you and who you are (you’re amazing).
