3:56 That is my food! A bowl of rice with some toppings on it, which you can choose from a variety. My choice: green beans, mixed veggies, a slice of fish and some tofu. And a spoon of spicy sambal.

Nice tour of Chong Pang Market's main area. Yeah the fishball noodles you have is pretty old-school. Chong Pang a bit far from me (I'm at North-east side of Yishun) but sometimes when I head down to Chong Pang area to visit my doctor when I was young I'll probably da pao their 冬粉 (glass noodle) soup with some fishballs to ease myself back to recovery. The dessert stall next to it will usually order the 乱七八糟. Prawn pork rib noodles in the morning are good, other than that some people usually whack the yu tiao to pair with the soya bean drinks from the corner shops that you mentioned.

Hello very good that you show the bus services... This helps us tremendously in trying to locate this hawker center... Thank you so much.

If you go by public transport and don't fancy the 20 minute walk from Yishun MRT, you can get off at Khatib and catch 858 bus going in Woodlands direction - it drops you off nearly outside the FC. Yao Fa stall (01-28) does a nice bowl of Teochew mushroom meat noodles, or at least it did when I was there in 2016.

@@braintransplantdonor haha.. our overseas guru when it comes to Singapore hawker fare. I have never even stepped foot into this neighbourhood before 😅 I’m heard they are in the midst of phasing out these older structures.. so I thought better visit before it’s gone

I love the braised duck and Chwee Kuey at Chong Pang hawker centre. Uncle quite generous with his braised duck portion. The satay stall there is cheaper compared to other parts of Yishun where I stay. My place charges 90cts per stick. Never tried the fishball noodles, will try it now because I love qq noodles and you said the fishballs have texture.

Was it the other braised duck I didn’t get to try? Haha.. I was already 90% filled polishing the CKT and duck rice.. but that nice Lao pan kept saying he do a small bowl for me to try 😅 and I finished it again 🤪😅 would have enjoyed it more on an empty stomach

I remember going to Chong Pang Hawker Centre which was located near a junction at Sembawang Rd before the Sembawang Shopping Ctr in the early 90s. There weren't any flats built then.
@Piggypuggy

Was total empty except for the market.. coz Yishun town was in its inception stages. I think Sembawang Shopping Centre wasn’t there till around the 86.. used to visit a cassette record shop there.. Sembawang Music Centre. Collecting Vinyls was the thing then 😄

i doubt we can compete with malaysia for CKT since they have so many types n they taste quite good but for chicken rice, so far only SG has the best Hainanese CR. havent found any good chicken rice in malaysia just yet
@Piggypuggy
@Piggypuggy Жыл бұрын
Strange huh? Why Malaysia can’t produce the same quality chicken rice? Maybe no access to ice water to super cool the boiled chicken? But I would categorise CKT as completely different. I so love my Penang CKT and it’s fabulous wok Hei aroma with shrimps. But I do also enjoy a dark sweet plate of SG CKT at times too
