Just a quick one for all, the reason our C-segment saloon cars have 1.5 and 1.6 litre engines whereas everywhere else have 1.8 and 2.0 litre mill is mainly due to our Certificate of Entitlement (COE) bidding system which categorises cars into two categories, Cat A (1600cc, 130bhp and below), Cat B (more than 1600cc and 130bhp). Generally the quota prices for Cat A are lower than that of Cat B so dealers capitalise on this by making our C-segment saloons at 1.6 litres and smaller so as to keep the prices lower. C-segment models are generally preferred by buyers here, Honda Civic, Toyota Corolla Altis, Hyundai Elantra/Avante, Kia Cerato and Mazda 3 are among the favourites here, all having just 1.5 or 1.6 litre engines. They did try to bring in C-segment models with 1.8 or 2.0 litre but because of the Cat B COE, they are priced too close to 2 litre D-segment models, making them non-viable. And yes because of this COE system, we are the country with the most expensive cars in the world. This 1.6 Elegance model costs S$104k with Cat A COE while 1.8 Hybrid cost S$121k with Cat B COE.

@YSKhongDriving4 жыл бұрын
We have no news about Corolla hybrid. Note also the Singapore base Corolla Altis has a 1.6 lit engine. It is fine for Singapore.

What is the ground clearance for the new Altis?
@YSKhongDriving4 жыл бұрын
You can check this information online. I don't have the details with me, sorry. Usual GC would be between 170 to 180mm, but I wouldn't know for sure. SUVs have higher GC if you need the additional height.
