Glad that you managed to go to the Old Ford Factory. Basically during World War II, wherever there is major conflict, you will find multi-national military getting together to fight the Axis Power. Hence, British forces may be counter-attacking Singapore to re-take it, but the US Air Force definitely would be here to help out as well. I'm glad that that period is over and into history (for us to learn), but the world is still filled with all kinds of conflict. Sad!!! It'll be nice if peace prevails. Have a nice weekend. Stay safe and healthy.

Very happy we were able to visit the factory! I agree with your assessment of war. Everyone loses in war...even the "winners."

And not many people know is that Nazi Germany played a part in the capture of Singapore too. Bernhard Rogge of the German navy captured a British warship and managed to retrieve some secret documents regarding the defense of Singapore ports. He passed it to the Japanese who find it very useful. For his actions, he was the only one of three German officials who was awarded the Japanese samurai sword (the other two were Rommel & Goering).

Best wishes n greetings from a KZbin fan.Your visit to the Ford factory museum remind me of my primary six visit to the Ford factory on a education tour. They really assemble those cars by hand,no automation those days. Thanks for bringing back my memories of the good old days.Enjoyed your video presentation, thanks.

I had no idea all the cars were made by hand in those days, but it makes sense. Robots were decades away at that point. I do wish there was a part of the tour showing how the old factory previously operated.

This is probably the best museum collection for WWII but getting there is harder - so tourist footfall is lower than Fort Siloso or the National Museum which have relevant sections. That lets you have the space and time to view it though.

Yes, certainly difficult to get there, but like you said, it was very easy to look around. No competition to view the displays!

Lee-Iacocca hadn’t started working at Ford yet. He might had some foresight.

Had a friend, passed a way a few years ago. He was a teenager working at the docks during the war. He told me the story of a USAAF bombing run while he was there. How he took shelter under a bench and was scared shitless. Here's a heads up. Next year in Feb, will be the 80th anniversary of the Fall of Singapore. There are plans afoot to mark the occasion. I assume there will be activities from December onwards, for the invasion of Malaya. Do watch out for them!

I will watch for the activities! I can't imagine how terrifying it would be having bombers dropping above your head. The notes said the USAAF killed several civilians in the bombing of the Japanese occupiers. As great as I'm sure it was to have help pushing out Japan, it clearly didn't come without a cost.

Oh, absolutely! I read somewhere that more French were killed by Allied bombers than by the Germans. Which is very likely, given that the German attack was over in six weeks. The bombing campaign lasted for years ....

Singapore's too expensive to own a car, but I have a couple of Ford GTs in Forza Horizon (3 and 4) and in The Crew (1 and 2) 🤣🤣 Yes my mom and grandma has many stories from back in WW2... and uses a few of them to coerce us to finish the food on our plate 😁 You know a story is incoming when grandma starts "When your mother was your age....." Mainly it's about how they had to scrounge for food, cuz the rations were scarce cuz the Japanese army took a huge portion of it for the army, and the black market prices for food was super high, plus the "banana money" (Japanese issued currency in the war) was practically worthless. My mom said she saw uncles (non-blood uncles) dragged away and never seen again, as well as people shot to death on the streets in broad daylight by the Japanese soldiers for no other reason than looking at the soldier wrong. LKY lived thru this time as well, hence he was so determined that Singapore has a standing army that is capable of defending the country...

Everything about the WW2 years in Singapore sound terrifying. I'm not sure how that generation made it through. Very brave. Thanks for sharing the stories. Very glad Singapore has a strong army now that can defend itself! I just learned that Forza Horizon 5 will include the DeLorean... I can't wait!
