I really like the sian group. Here are my reasons. There will come a time when some people will start questioning about life. What, why, how, when....Even though things may not be as negative or bad for you right now. But what makes you sian? Who makes you sian? Why are you sian? I have a European friend who has everything in life. He came from a rich family. Have many friends. Good in his studies, and was about to become a doctor. But in the end of the day, he felt despondent. Life seems so seamless for him, yet he felt something was missing. He cannot understand what it is that is bugging him. So he started finding out what it is that is making him feel so lousy. He talked to friends, to parents, to just about anyone who has the time to listen to his grumbling. Then he came across a book called ’The monk who sold his ferrari’. It’s about a rich man who made millions of dollars in his career but still feel very unhappy. So this man gave up everything and went to a monastery and finally found his answer and lived out his life as a monk and contributed to society in a different form. This young western guy felt so intrigued by the story and went on to search for the deeper meaning of life beyond the material spectrum, met his master who would guide him to live a different life but still embracing the material world. The master told him to continue to become a doctor and he did just that. At the same time, this old master also taught him how to meditate and pray and participate in different selfless projects to make a difference in the world. Another young man gotten himself on the wrong side of the law and became a gangster and a drug addict. He has long hair and tattoo all over his body. After a while, this man got tired of his bad lifestyle and went to search for a deeper meaning of life and found the same master. This master accepted him as a student with the condition that he must give up all his bad habits. He did as he was told and today he is a changed person. He works in a grocery store and learn how to play the organ and help to organise races for the community. He travelled around the world teaching people how to meditate, for free. There will come a time when some people will start to question about life, no matter how good it seems on the outside. And the reason for that to happen is simple. It’s time for you to move on. It’s also time for you to wake up. Your soul is prompting you from the inside to make you feel despondent. To make you search harder. You have evolved to a point where you want to live a different way of life. A life of prayer and meditation. A spiritual life, while at the same time still engaged in the material world. Whatever questions you have about life in Singapore whether it is about climate change, cost of living, tolerance of others, etc... It all surround some generic questions. 1. What is the meaning of life? 2. Why am I born? 3. What am I doing here in the world (Singapore)? 4. How can I do to make my life meaningful? 5. Why is the world the way it is today? 6. Why are there so many problems in the world? 7. If there is really a creator who has created this world, why can't He/She make it perfect? 8. If there is a God, it is a He or a She? 9. Is there one God or many Gods? 10. Why are there religious conflicts when they supposed to preach goodness in humanity? These are questions that your soul want you to ask. And the answers are already within your heart. As for those who don't have such questions, your time has not come yet. You are not ready to grow beyond.

Any interested to know the answers to all my questions above, you will find all the answers written in the books by Sri Chinmoy available in book depository. Recommended books list... 1. Wisdom of Sri Chinmoy 2. God is... 3. The inner promise 4. Everest Aspiration 5. Yoga and the spiritual life 6. My Life’s Soul journey 7. Death and reincarnation 8. The Jewels of happiness 9. Q and A books 10. Heart garden (Poetry) 11. Beyond Within. (first book I read) Many people who read his writings felt as if they were the author of the books because what he wrote were something they already believe in their hearts. It’s as if he wrote what they already knew all along. I felt the same too. Of course, there were also many new things we discovered as well. “In the Universal Heart, all hearts are One." -Sri Chinmoy The late Sri Chinmoy had written 1,600 books, composed 20,000 songs, painted 220,000 acrylic paintings, drew 16 million soul birds (as his prayers for peace), lifted 13 live elephants, etc. He led free meditation at the UN for 37 years, from 1970 to 2007, upon his demise at 76. He was born on 27 Aug 1931.

The world is the way it is today because of the extreme lack of interest and understanding spirituality. Currently, darkness is reigning supremacy in the world, that is why there are so many man-made catastrophes in the world. So much cruelty are happening almost everywhere. Climate change is just one of the evidences. It is times like this that an enlightened master was urgently sent back to humanity in this lifetime to bring back harmony and balance. But his was a very daunting task because most people don't care or understand the importance of spiritual knowledge. They thought it's so kind of religion and they don't want to associate themselves with it just to play safe. The difference between religion and spirituality is very simple. Religious teachers are unenlightened teachers. They are mere students of truth. Their interpretation of Truth is often obscure and bias because they have not fully realized the Truth and they still prossess all kinds of human weaknesses and ego. Real spiritual masters are enlightened masters. They have realized God through sheer perfection of self discipline such that darkness or human imperfection are fully illumined in their nature. There are very very very few of these masters just because realization of the highest purity and divinity cannot be attained easily. Only a handful ever succeeded in the history of mankind. An true enlightened master will never say to anyone that they are the only real master or the only way to Truth, God or heaven. It's just utterly rediculous because they can commune with masters such Lord Buddha, Lord Jesus and Lord Krishna in the inner world.

My only child is at a public university in Spore now. I have been telling her "can pass, can graduate, ok already". My biggest and only wish for her is she can find a good man to marry and have a happy marriage. I have no other expectations for her. I feel that everything will fall into place: she will get married (fingers crossed), BTO, get a job, become a middle-income earner, etc. As a parent, I will do my part not to burden her financially. I will also put in my efforts to stay healthy. As a parent, I personally feel that it is unfair for parents to set high expectations for their children - must do very well in this and that, must earn lots of money, etc. It is frightening! Such high and unreasonable expectations can suffocate a child!

As a parent, perhaps you could also reflect why do you think that these expectations are important. It is based on what society perceives or your own personal (or family/friends) circumstances and do they apply to your daughter?

Mix sian and blur : sian in a way as a young adult hitting 30. Means there will be even more inflation, gst increase , everything is expensive nothing is cheap . So as a young generation we need to work extra hard for the money. Forget abt rest. Another sian part is Especially for myself I wrking part time study part time .so everything is blur and sian to me. By that time I finish my studies I not sure I able to get stable job because of my age ? Since my goal now is to study and change career.

Citizen, I started work at $950 per month in 1990 after the 1986 SG Recession. In work, you have to seek out areas where you are better than others and can solve commercial problems better than others. Because no boss will pay high salary for average performance.

The generation born after 2000 need to build more mental fortitude. I’m born in the 90s and even though it gets tiring in life but everyone has their own struggles. Don’t compare yourself to others; rather go at your own pace. Most Singaporeans might agree that it’s not realistic to pursue our passion because niche paths usually earn less income than other careers. But no choice, depending on your priorities you either chase for money or passion. This problem is prevalent in many other countries as well no only in Singapore. So it all boils down to priorities and your outlook on life.

It means you keep reskilling and improving but you have no experience, needs to cope with work ethics and posibility to complain, quit or demand higher salary. Thats why they hire foreign workers which already have work experience, would work hard from start and complain less even when their salary is low.

Why you guys think that he needs to be babysat with such programmes? I'm not buying and I don't think others will buy it too. I think its moving southwards instead. He can do both, no. He can debate the ops in parliament and engage the youth in a forum like this. He's a future PM. This is the time for him to engage with the youth, understand their issues, worries, aspirations and what not, to bring back to his team to ponder and work on to make SG a better place for these youth who eventually will inherit SG. I'm pretty sure the ops side is doing the same thing.

And what would all the argument and hot air prove? Freedom of speech means PS, CSJ and LT can continue to tell lies and make false accusations, and spew their own propaganda and rhetoric. Exercise more critical thinking, citizen, instead of pointing finger and blaming govt day in day out.

Singapore is Originally very , very Small. So Logically, how can a Small island Provide Big Guaranteed Opportunities. No Way. It's either accepting Naturally or by Force , Pressure. All singaporeans can choose to work and excel in private sector, armed forces, civil service or open a business. What are you doing with the time you are given? btw if SG allowed to develop "naturally", you will likely not be born at all because the early richer Malaysians or UK colonials would have bought and hoarded everything of value.
