I just want to say thank you Adam Khoo. I was with Stashaway SG and they totally messed me up with their marketing. They told me they were experts and leave investing to them. Even my kids angpow money is in there. And it went south big time. It caused me to think of other ways to recover. I listened to your KZbin videos. And now I am up over 30%.

As a Swiss who is invested in the US and SG Stock market, I can't add anything new to this video, great overview, totally agree. The performance of US stocks in general has been way, way better than SG stocks, no surprise. Reason for being invested in SG stocks are: - diversification (Currency, Geographical) - Dividend stocks (No withholding tax) - Personal bias (lived in Singapore for years) So no surprise my holdings in SG stocks are exclusively the 3 Banks and REITS. In the past there were also some other positions among them such as Wilmar. However if there is another approach or idea how to best benefit from SGX stocks I'm all ears.

Thanks for the insights. But I am shocked with the lackluster performance of SGX returns.. why even run the exchange.. no wonder I never invested in any SG companies while being in SG for several years except for a few REITS which are good for dividends, but would have expected a lot more from equities.

Recently bought some recommended stocks and now they are just penny stocks. There seems to be more negative portfolios in the last 3rd half of 2023 with markets tumbling, soaring inflation, and banks going out of business. My concern is how can the rapid interest-rate hike be of favor to a value investor, or is it better avoiding stocks for a while?

As a Malaysian, I also share the same feeling towards the Malaysian bursa index as u do towards the Singapore index, I dun invest in US market simply cos of lack of capital and conversion rate, myr really going to shit, but I do invest in my Malaysian market but in individual stocks, and I'm grateful that at least bursa have growth stocks, so far my pf return in 9 mths ard 18%, forecast min 20% for 1st year

I agree with Adam that invest in US stock is safer, even compared with bursa, but I treat bursa as a training ground before I start building US portfolio, if I can do well in bursa stocks, US market should be no problem, as bursa has a few market makers so the price can move easily, but US is much less volatile

Can’t expect much from the Singapore market given that it is likely one of the smallest exchanges in the world and not many blue ribbon companies would want to list on it as well, except for those who cannot make it to the larger ones and of course those that are required to do it because of ‘National Service’ reasons. 😅

Basically the Singapore market would be better for day traders that don't really care about the company at all and just want high volatility so that it can drop real low and then be undervalued and then go up real high especially whenever they drop in their massive amount of money and then selling off to make a quick profit while everyone else suffers... While the US market is better for hey I'm going to sit my money here and expect it to grow over time.

As a Singaporean, I think it is quite unpatriotic to shun S'pore stocks in favor of such heavy US stock bias. After all, our "father knows best" SG Govt (which we all know is Command & Control type) encourages us to buy SG equities. Our country got also many Blue-Chip companies (Singapore Airlines, Singtel, DBS, Tiger Beer, others) which are growing crazy with high dividends, so it seems not right to say US stocks are necessarily superior! Beyond only financials, there are also long-term Strategic and "National Champion" reasons to support SG stocks & SGX Exchange....not just blindly looking at economic returns. If you shun SG stocks, that is same as criticising SG Government.... So I choose to stick with investing into SG stocks.

For muslims here, 99.9 stocks are haram. They buy interest or put there money in bank for interest or do prohibited business according to Islam. Take Adam's forex course, (currency is halal and day trading doesn't involve interest) and you can make pretty good income (even millions) from it, if God wishes and you did your work. If you got no money, join prop firms to make capital.
