Sorry that you are allergic to soya. Just for precaution and to note, food associated with Northern Asia, China, Korea and Japan mostly used Soya sauce in their cuisines. And they are so commonly used in SE Asia too like Singapore with Chinese people. Take care and enjoy your traveling.

I did..I love noodles. I had so many places on my list, and some, I wasn't 100% sure exactly which dish was their Michelin dish...but I also was getting really sick unfortunately from the soy.

They were sooo good ..just the dragon fruit....which I don't know why...because the fruit on its own was good there.

Kaya is a jam made of eggs, coconuts and other stuff. That's why it goes with the soft boil or poached eggs. It is traditionally seasoned with soy sauce and pepper. Or since you have a soy allergy, you can eat it the way I do with salt and pepper.

Just regarding satay by the bay I couldn't find this place anywhere. Such a big area to cover. Food looks good though. I was content with the two food centres in Chinatown anyway

It's in the corner...if you look at a map...it's all the way to the right, just past the kids section....but yes, there are endless areas...so endless food satisfaction to be had!

Oh no, the fish ball noodles you ordered is a dry version. i.e. noodles with sauces. Noodles with soup is a separate order choice. You don't add the soup into the noodles already with sauces. Good dry noodles should have the sauces clinging to the noodles, no soupy base at the bottom of the bowl. (although some people add a small dash if it is too dry, personally I don't unless the dry noodles wasn't cooked right in the first place) You had diluted the sauce and it won't taste good. Think spaghetti bolognese but with watery sauce that doesn't stick to the pasta. Mix up the noodles in the sauce with the spoon and chopsticks together. Also do not place the cutleries on the tray or table (not hygienic). Kaya is an egg custardy jam. It is essentially slow cooked in coconut milk, sugar, pandan leaves and eggs.

Hawker Chan you got to go main stall, their outlets maybe a miss, my fav soya sauce chicken is across Chinatown point. Since you are allergic to soy, you should avoid Yong Tau Foo, Mee Rebus, Mee siam, Tempe, ( stock are bean based} You need to ask, as many might not contain beans products, but their sauce does. Some food like braised duck, you can eat, but side dish like tau Kee (bean stick) , tau gua (beancurd) can be avoid. Laksa can ask without tau pok ( bean puff) . Same pastry are green beans, red beans, no soy products involved. Better to ask. Tell them your food allergies.

Thanks so much for your valuable information! At first, I wasn't sure that I would react to having soy in Asia, I was hoping that since it was so fresh, I would have a better reaction, but it turned out to be the opposite...so now I know...so I will keep your info in mind for next time!

Food at Satay by the bay are pretty expensive and not nice.. Local usually doesn't patron there. Lau pau sa is another one but cater to those working in the central business district. The yakun soft boil egg wasn't done to the correct texture. The yolk is supposed to be more runny.

Tip! Dip into the sauce! Too many foreigners just decimate the dish by mixing the entire sauce or sauces into the dish😳
