Fun fact: In lore he does a lot of "random" experiment, but at the end of the day, he has a reoccurring theme of speaking/thinking about immortality. So in lore there is still a little spark that inspired Arcane Singed.

Yeah. He's never done anything "just for the sake of science." There is an end goal for him. This video mentions a short story where singed sews two people together after transforming them. It wasn't just to see if he could. It was an experiment to see if he could combine a weak-bodied but strong-minded person with a strong-bodied and weak-minded person in order to create something immortal, and greater than the sum of its parts. The story is about one of his many attempts to do the same experiment, trying to find a good combination of people. The video is misleading, and it's kind of irritating. The channel obviously didn't read the entire story. Or if they did, they weren't paying attention.

I think the purple plants themselves are the most basic form of shimmer. Rio was probably always close to dying, and Singed likely used the shimmer plants to keep her alive. In episode 3, when Silco brings Vander into his base for the first time after capturing him, there's a brief scene where they show workers producing shimmer in the foreground. It seems to be filtered through some kind of living creature, most likely originating from the void. This is probably how they transform it into its distilled, liquid form. The hextech core also becomes more void-like after Viktor begins transforming himself using shimmer as the facilitator. What's exciting about the hextech core for me is how it's adapting to all the energy that's being introduced to it. It seems to integrate void energy very easily, and it's clearly becoming sentient. There's a certain void creature in the game that's famous for its adaptability. I wonder if we'll see the core transform into that creature eventually.

To them, how to use it is a mankind responsibility, not their. And they actually can be right, but this can lead to a very evil path. Singed isn't evil because he want something in particular (unlike Viktor), but because he cares about nothing.

The mutation MUST survive, because the end goal of his experiment is immortality. He aims to do this via shimmer, which in his words, "has the capacity to change our nature". This is what Viktor also refers to in the same scene when he looks at the mutation and says "I understand now", since he is aiming towards that same "immortality" or "nature change" now to save himself, whereas he despised the experiment as a child. In the end, they both lack morality because they thing that being able to save people in the future is worth sacrificing people now, although viktor still seems more moral since he is willing to perform the experiments only on either plants or himself. This also makes me think that the "mutation" might be singed's daughter after he attempted to save her life using axolotl genes, mushrooms from the cave and a shimmer prototype.

To be honest, I couldn’t tell if the ‘mutation’ was getting pumped full of shimmer or if it was getting it sucked out. He was feeding it those purple mushrooms after all, perhaps it excretes shimmer and that’s why he needs it to survive. He deemed it a failure after the two minds merged because he was using it to see if it would be possible to graft himself to mundo's body but did not want to be dumbed down by mundo's inferior mind. Also the weapons he created for noxus include a chemical weapon so powerful it wiped out all of Master YI's village and made it inhospitable for the next 1000 years or something crazy like that

not a league player myself but a lot of fans are theorizing his daughter is Orianna (Ori for short which matches with Rio). Apparently in game lore she was a girl fatally wounded and then bit by bit her father replaced her body parts with clockwork to save her, but in the end she slowly lost her humanity (as far as i understand). But her being Singed's daughter in the show is just speculation. Ori the mutation might just hold the key to regenerating a body (notice that Ori's design is of an axolotl, creatures known for regenerating their bodies to fascinating extent) or immortality (so as to proceed with his scientific research)

I don't know if I missed it at first when he showed up, I don't know if I should have assumed it was him after he went bald, I don't know if they kept it purposely vague until the end (I never noticed anyone saying his name), but I genuinely never realized the scientist was Singed until he showed up old, bald, half blind, and covering up his mouth. I'm pretty sure the only reason Singed cares for Rio was because their mutation allowed for the production of Shimmer, or at least a component of it needed that he couldn't get anywhere else. He specializes with genetic modification and was able to turn Jinx into an absolutely beast when he operated on her. With how much he looks into "changing our nature", I wouldn't be Suprised if that ends up tying into his goal of immortality
