Very good tutorial. I can concentrate on the steps you are taking, how you use your hands to guide the fabric, hoe you place the edge of the foot. Also, you continue measuring and took your time, love every part of this tutorial.

Aren’t these elderly Singer machines wonderful. I have my Moms old 66 and I LOVE it. It’s a real treasure.
@sewwithmrsg6 ай бұрын
Yes they are, they have long lives compared to new sewing machines. My collection of old sewing machines are all older than me and they will even outlast me. They don't make machines like these machines anymore, because it's bad for their profitability.

Thank you. For me, this demo shows a completely different sewing experience than I am used to.

I love the way you use the old hem to raise your pressure foot. What a great tip. I think I will use my handcrank to hem jeans from now on. It seems easy to control. Thanks for this video!
@sewwithmrsg3 жыл бұрын
Yes, exactly, the hand crank is easy to control when hemming jeans especially when sewing through bulky seams. When we use the treadle or the electric ones for hemming, we usually stop and turn the hand wheel by hand to avoid breaking our needle at thicker seams… so a hand crank machine is perfect for the job ☺️ I made this video to encourage more people to use these excellent machines. They are much, much better than some newer machines. I have industrial machines and these old machines are pretty much close to the strength of industrial, only not as fast. So I want to encourage home sewers to use their old machines not just as pretty home decors. Thanks again! Would appreciate it if you can share these videos! ❤️

I was wondering what she was doing. Then I realized, it was so the foot didn't have to go up the hill. Cool idea.

Oh, my goodness, the stitches are absolutely beautiful--better looking by far than the stitches on a rotary or oscillating bobbin. Thank you ever so much for showing them to us. Now I've got to find a Singer VS to replace my Singer 66.

Absolutely true, and yet when I checked the mechanisms underneath the machine, it looks so simple compared to the oscillating and rotary hook models. You’re welcome and thanks too for watching and leaving a comment ☺️

Recently bought a 28k and struggled to pick up bottom bobbin, the way you do it works every time. Grateful.

Happy it helped you ☺️ I really hope more people will see my videos about these old excellent machines. If you can give it a like, it will help with more visibility of these videos and if you can also subscribe, it’ll help grow my channel. I really need motivation to continue making videos on this channel. Viewers like you help me to consider making more of these videos despite not getting any financial gain as my channel is not a monetised channel. KZbin requires a minimum hours of views to get a channel monetised, sadly.

Love the video! I have a 128 knee operated and it its great for bag making and what a wonderful stitch it makes! 🙂

Hi Diana, thanks for watching and for the lovely comment ❤️ Yes it is a strong machine. If I found these machines sooner I probably wouldn’t buy new machines, except for my embroidery machine ☺️ I don’t have the knee operated control, I’m sure it’s better than the foot pedal controller.

@@ckim5134 thank you! I find these machines with shuttle bobbins to have nicer stitches. Sad Singer discontinued them 😭 But we can still buy them from eBay or fb marketplace.

This is amazing. I acquired a 128 k singer but it needs cleaning up and restoring wires. You are very encouraging! Wish I knew who to ask how to get new wireing. Any ideas?
@sewwithmrsg9 ай бұрын
Hi Pamela, most of the small parts for old sewing machines are available to buy on eBay, and there are some on Etsy as well. I’m not sure which parts you need but in my experience, the only parts that requires changing are the tension check spring and the tension assembly.

The wires are crusty and falling into disintegrating peices when I pick it up. I guess I need an electrician .?

Lighting so hard on sewing
@sewwithmrsg2 жыл бұрын
Yes, sorry I didn't see until after I finished the video... I was sewing far from the machine because my camera was between my head and the machine, and I needed to stitch precisely so I focused the light there so I can see more clearly. Anyway, lesson on filming learned, hehe. I hope that this video helps though. Thank you for commenting, I appreciate all comments.
