My father was an auto trimmer and upholsterer, and used one of these for years at home doing side work, and then in his own shop.

Is there any way you could help me with information so that I can refurbish my friends 16-188. We no nothing about it and want to get it to run like yours does and cannot find information that is helpful.. do you have a way to get in contact with you? This is a very good video. If you still have the manual I would love a copy of it where can I get one?

Your skipped stitches with 5 layers could have been avoided by using silicone oil on the top thread. This is especially needed with biothane or rubber products. One can make a DIY version with a piece of scrap foam then adding the silicone oil to it (the stuff is quite thick). I own a 1913 Singer 16-88 and a 1954 Singer 16-188 and considering a new old stock Singer 16u-288 (there are two for sale from old stocks) color grey not black like the other two. These are beautiful and great machines loved by upholsterers for decades. The Rex 28-188 clone actually has reverse added to it. The 288 was made in Japan (U factory designation). Best regards

Hi Mike, I’ve a 16K 115 which was made in 1916 - I’m missing a wire thread guide for the front of the face plate and another wire thread guide at the lower end of the needle bar, any idea as to where I might find either of these please?

We have an old one like this, but we need the manual. Not the parts manual, the manual like you have. Can you copy the manual and sell it in a download pdf version? Please and Thank you!

Is this machine still available? Do you have a website to look at your available machines?

I have a question as to the reason why you would adjust the upper and lower feet to different feed rates,I have one of these machines and didn't know that was possible.

Big drawback is the lack of foot options. Not the best for leather unless you make a roller. I took the one I had in the 90's and chopped it into a free arm to sew the bottoms of cordova backpacks. Before that it sewed about 800 pairs of chaps.

@@justinkrivers I have a Consew 18 as well. It was made in Japan by Seiko just after WW2 and it is a clone of the Singer Model 16.

Is this machine for sale? I’m also in Rochester.

That machine is quite impressive! How much does a machine like this cost?
@swampwolf3 жыл бұрын
I picked one up $20. If its in perfect running condition or as I say plug and sew $400. If it needs work I wouldn't bother as there's no new parts other than little stuff. If you get parts they are used and probably worn out in the same spot.
