【Program Introduction】The new music program “The Singer"
is a large-scale music competition, which is broadcast
in Hunan Satellite TV in 2017 and produced by

Because they didn’t use ranked voting. The winner got less than a quarter of the votes and Dimash got about 20%. The remainder of the votes were spread over the other finalists. Absolutely ridiculous way to select a finalist. If you look up the singer 2017 competition on Wikipedia it explains exactly how the votes are tallied

He rarely sings in this register, which is so beautiful. I wish Igor K would write some songs for him in this register. It's not necessary for him to hit every high and low note possible in a single song. Whatever range he sings in, his voice is beautiful and his stage presence and persona are captivating.

I "stumbled" on Dimash less than 2 weeks ago and I am in awe. I watch his past concerts in the evenings on weekends - Watched the 2020 New York one last night. This particular bit of Opera 2 is my favorite short watch not just because of the singing but because I can see how happy it made him to see his father there - that pleased, happy smile gets me every time.

Although the original being by Vitas, this is no longer Vitas’s song. Dimash pretty much wiped the floor with Vitas. If you listen to Vitas’s studio version and some of the live ones, his only claim to fame is the chorus. And even then, he couldn’t duplicate it in live shows without the aid of linking and digital manipulation/support. This is according to his ex-manager and few others. Vitas’s normal voice is not that impressive either and sounds like an amateur singer. Apart from all of this, the arrangement in Dimash’s version is incredible. The violins are mesmerizing. The original version sounds very sterile and empty compare to this. No wonder The Singer show was sued for copyright infringements and Dimash was asked not to sing it again. For fear of upstaging Vitas. But that train has left the station Vitas. This is not your song anymore. Let it go. Let the world enjoy this treasure that has been gifted to it. I am sure every time Dimash sings, the creator peaks through the clouds and thinks: “hmmmm, I don’t quite remember creating this.”

Vitas has been around a long time, in his own way he is a creative genius. Vitas made opera 2 without the physical vocals to fully execute but found a way, he's an artist with a vision he has other works that are just as strange and beautiful. Dimash here is just starting and will find his own way very different from Vitas

Well honest truth, if it wasn't for vitas to break the barriers for this song, dimash wouldn't be able to perform this song to perfection like he did in this performance... thats why there is a copyright, to protect others from taking your masterpiece to make it as their own... the reason dimash can sing this song so good is because he followed the steps that Vitas laid down...
